Benjani

I can never fully understand why players feel the need to come out and say these things about their old clubs?? Its not like the players we have got rid of always dreamed of playing for City, Ireland grew up as a United fan and the rest probably would of laughed at us if we tried signing them 5 years ago but as soon as we get some money in BAM! they have always DREAMED of playing for a team like us and would LOVE to get City to Champions League and win the title with us.

How these players can slag our clubs off when these players themselves wouldn't play for anything less then £40,000 a week.

Change your words Benjani "Players have cash but no class"

The only impact he made was scoring against the rags and even that was a fluke but any goal against them is good for me . But I didn't think this man could have a bad word to say about anybody due to his constant smile but he has dropped himself in it now . The only decent game i saw him play were at the swamp and he wasn't even that good then . I hope he does start against us as he will honestly show himself up even more he won't get a touch as truthfully he is a shite player who got lucky to get 15 goals in a season

Scored two of the most important goals in our recent history (Their Special Day, and the 2-0 at Schalke), so I thank him for that.

Bit shut the fuck up and get back onside you smiling wanker.

I hope he goes on to bag dozens of goals against all the other teams in the division, and don't begrudge him anything - small mindedness and sentimentality really don't fit in with things if you think about it.

needless to say, I hope he has a stinker against us.

- I'm surprised so many people rise to the bait of journalistic fishing, as someone above has intimated.

Never quite eclipsed Goater for popularity with the fans did he, wonder why.
Then again neither have any of our current squad yet.
Benjani can shit in an Ikea bowl, mix it with pig slops, puke, pubic hairs and spunk and eat it for his tea as far as I'm concerned.

We are just easy targets right now. The fact is most players asked about a club they've just left have something negative to say, it's just that nobody's listening. And about the players at city for the money? Isn't that why all players are at the clubs they are at? I mean, if another club was to offer them more they'd be off. Just like anybody in any line of business. There is nothing special about city on that front.

Can't see this covered elsewhere, apologies if it's been discussed already.

Sounds like Arry bleeding Redknapp has a new book out and in it he claims we paid £9.5m for Benjani (according to Daily Mail).

I had it in my head it was around £3m. Can anyone confirm I'm not going crazy?

He got called out on this before, he tried to make out on Radio he made a huge profit on the transfer for Portsmouth but since so much of it on our end was performance related he actually lost 5.5m or something like that.

Worth every penny for his shoulder alone.

I wonder how much 'arry pocketed from the deal.

He tells that many lies he believes it all himself

'arry Redknapp is a lying ****. We signed him for an initial £3.87 million, which would've risen to £7.6 million if Benjani had made at least 75 starts for us. As it happens he played less than half that many games for us so I very much doubt Pompey received anything more than the £3.87 million from us.

Just checked, I was out on the last page but Rosie 'Arry paid £4.1m for him so still made a loss.

In case you needed any more reminding of what a shitbag Harry Redknapp is, just watch and listen to this:

Bear in mind that he's talking here about a guy who was building a decent career at Portsmouth, who was settled (probably with his family, too) and was happy. The way Redknapp talks about it, it's as if he's completely forgotten (or just doesn't care) that this was a man's career and livelihood he was fucking about with. And you can't help but watch this and think that Redknapp must have got a cut out of it to have been so keen and delighted to throw one of his players out like that. If memory serves (which it clearly doesn't for Arry), Benjani was one of the league's top scorers at the time we signed him, on about 12 goals, so was serving Portsmouth pretty well.

The look on Hoddle's face says it all.

£3m, £9m, doesn't matter, worth it alone for that goal in the Munich Anniversary derby.

Correct.

The standard of the players we had then might not be at the level they are now, but for their performance that day, they should all be heroes in every City fan's eyes.

As another poster said earlier, I can still recall the thrill I felt when DV scored the first on that wonderful afternoon.

We are impeccable.
