Bercow stepping down

My old boss (who was the best I ever had) outside work was a JP from the Home Counties who was also a socialist, which is a bizarre mix, so It could have been both tbf.
It’s not that surprising that he was a JP and a socialist. When a Bench recruits a group of new magistrates (usually a dozen or so at a time) they’re asked who they voted for at the last election. It is a requirement that, when the list of names is submitted to the Ministry of Justice for approval, it has to be “politically balanced”.

Perhaps surprisingly, the left wing magistrates that I used to know were generally also among those In favour of more severe sentences.

It's got everything to do with it. Hypocrisy is one of the defining characteristics of the loony left on here as elsewhere - whether its supporting the actions of racists like Bercow or terrorists like the IRA. It's all gryst to the throwbacks' Marxist mill.
Have you studied Marxism or are you just parroting Fuhrage's view on LBC?

That may have been the case a few years back, but the judiciary has become increasingly illiberal and politicised in recent years, which the MoJ must have had some bearing upon, and so I'd be surprised if the make-up of new recruits the bench during the same period hadn't also reflected that direction of travel.

Really good news.

The equalities act 2010 being one of her finest achievements.

I’ve got a lot of time and respect for her.
I'd put her down as favourite. Parliament would find the idea of a woman slapping down Boris in the chamber amusing.

Ah, you think he's going to burn down the House of Commons?
I think he's going to keep delaying the queens speech to open parliament until he gets what Dominic Cummings wants.

The Tories used to brand labour the authors of the politics of envy. Now I see they are using it in that their social media adverts, Twitter bots to attack the parliament.

"These MP's can afford to protest on £90, 000 a year"

"Leave London to speak to non rich remainers" Etc

It clear what the strategy is. Hate and division. Bannon playbook number 1.

As I young man I tried to scale the intellectual heights of Socialism but floundered in the foothills. It greatly saddens me you suggest Farage may be the source of anything I support, he is just a contemptible iteration of Bannon's right wing extremism - but an ever present danger for the Tories.

If you dont agree with them they have to put you in a box and the convenient one is the extreme right wing one.
