The man politically isn't on my side, but his respect for parliament amd it's procedures should be applauded.

I can look past politics and see what is one of the best speakers the house has had.

He is mostly derided by people who don't like him because he wouldn't act in their favour or by Tories who thought a Tory MP as speaker was a stooge for the party. Fair play to Mr Speaker he has sought to play it down the centre line and also apply Parliamentary rules...........................possibly with the exception of the way he treated some staff.
