The lack of respect and applause for his speach from his own party and the front bench is pathetic imho.

It was appalling.
If ever proof was needed that Johnson and his government have strayed far from the norms of behaviour expected as a member of parliament, this was it.

It was his wife’s car and as he answered in Parliament, a woman is free to have what she likes on her car and express her own views despite her husband.

I’m not sure on the rest, I highly doubt the Powell bit.

He is a tory who was in IDS and Howards shadow cabinets so none of that is shocking that he was a hard line tory when younger.

He is highly regarded because he respects the rules of parliament and shows no bias towards his own political party or beliefs, but in the procedures and proccess.

It only pisses the right off because they are a load of chancers and twats trying to con the country and he doesn't let them get away with it within the remit of parliament and his position

For those slagging him off. What specifically has he done wrong ?

This.

As far as I'm concerned he's been the best speaker I can recall in my lifetime. He's defended parliament with honour and protected it's sovereignty.

As a person I found him an aloof **** but maybe that's a quality needed to be a decent Speaker of the House.

Hoyle would be a decent shout as he's had experience in his role as Deputy. The Blarites in the PLP are lobbying for Harriett Harman in the vein hope she reigns in Comrade Corbyn when his government takes over.
