Brazilian star Bernard has refused to comment on his future, and says he will not while he is at the World Cup finals.

Manchester City have been strongly linked with a bid for the diminutive Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder, who is valued at over £30million.

Bernard only joined the Ukrainian club last summer for £22million but, having impressed, he is now being linked with another big-money move.

But having linked up with Brazil's World Cup squad, the 21-year-old insists he is letting his representatives work on his future.

"I made it clear since I arrived [to join the national team] that I won't comment about the possibility of a transfer as I am focused on the World Cup," he told Superesportes.

"It's a unique moment in the career of a player, I want to mature and learn a lot here with my more experienced team-mates.

"I leave my off the field situation to be handled by those who have the right to do so without me.

"I don't know [what will happen] after the World Cup, I have people to handle the off the field things."

Reports in Brazil, claim that Bernard's agents are trying to cancel his contract with Shakhtar because of the political unrest in Ukraine.

Fabregas alternative? Or just a smoke screen for Fabregas?

Pretty small smoke screen.

I hope we get him. Hopefull for next to nothing but I dont expect us to put in a bid to be honest. Anyone that thinks he's not that good must have a good reason but lets have it right. If we did get him & he adapted to the P.L then we'd have a world beater on our hands. The price makes no sense at all though. Personally I hope Milner stays cos I rate him highly! Time will tell. One thing I've learnt supporting City is dont believe shit till they've signed on the dotted line & the club have confirmed it.

A very impressive midfielder,

Youtube compilations can make anyone look good.

This kid is no better than Marcos Lopes. And he's 3 years older too.

Pretty small smoke screen.

More of a smoke fence.

I don't think that's true is it. Bernard is a Brazilian international and Lopes is still a EDS player. Hopefully in the next couple of years he will make the step up to our 1st team squad.

I've not seen him on Youtube at all, I agree Youtube compilations can sometimes mislead.
He's been "very impressive" when I've seen him in complete games.
