He's got to step up now. Would love to see him given a more central role alongside Gundogan if Kevin doesn't make it on Tuesday.

With David out, this was the perfect opportunity to see what he could do in a central role. Quite disappointed that we haven't made the most of the opportunity so far.

I feel like Bernardo is in a similar position to the likes of De Bruyne and Fernandinho were last season. He, like they were, is playing well, but it's taking some time to appreciate the complexity of Guardiola's system and he is not playing at his peak yet. We will likely see the best of him, and he is a supreme talent, next season when he is fully integrated.

Can you? really?. he offers little or no threat, is slow and his shooting isn't up to much. Poor buy on the evidence so far.
Have to agree with you, very predictable he has no change of pace and always looks to pass back or moves inside his man.His shooting ability is also weak. If he played more central it maybe would help and put Sterling out on the right.

I rate him because he proved this at Monaco. What i agree with you is that i think he will thrive more in a more central position and with players such as Sterling, Sane, Walker and Mendy providing the runs for him out wide.

Problem is we have 2 of the worlds best in David and Kev already cemented in those positions. The thing is Pep will always play a player he is not fully accustomed to (so to say) in another position so that they gain more experience of positional play etc - i think that is what he is doing with Bernado at the moment, and which is why we wont see the best of him until next season

dave and kev probably out v watford so no excuse for not playing him in the middle,if i'm wrong and he is crap there i will eat my hat

I think we still need to be more patient with him.

He is a great footballer, but a light weight.
Still needs time to feel more confident on the pitch against athletic opponents.
I also think he is brilliant when he has more space around. Maybe much better in a team with a counter setup.
Against deep sitting teams he is not confident and cheeky enough to get behind the man on the wing.

But I think his creativity, great touch and game reading could be helpful as an OM.

Yesterday summed up the problem that we have having a team of skilful artisans that get kicked all over the park against a team of bruisers like Palace. Even if the ref took action the damage is already done.

Poor out wide again, but he and we improved noticeably when Gundogan went off and he came central, and could have been the game changer in the end.

Yep this is why Sanchez solves both the Jesus and KDB injury issues. Sanchez on the wing with Bernardo in the middle and we are good to go.

All newbies should be given a season.

He has to do more for me, he’s completely ineffective out wide and slows our fluidity down way too much. Think he more than deserves this season as he wasn’t fully integrated with Pep in pre season, which has obviously had an affect on his settling in. I just assumed he’d be further down the line than he is at the minute.

Despite the eventual result, I enjoyed the City v Monaco games and they were clearly a very talented side. I was particularly impressed by Mendy and Mbappe. Probably just me but I didn’t even notice Bernardo. I know others did, though, and I respect their opinion. Having watched him this season, it is clear that on the wing he is simply ineffective. He looks much better in the middle and I do remember even Dave needed a little time to settle, even more time to reach his current stellar level.

Nothing I have seen so far suggests that he will be a top player for us. Pep clearly thinks so, however, so we will all have to be patient and see if he is right. I certainly hope to be proven wrong and will thoroughly enjoy eating humble pie in a future post.

I think I read Bernado was their POtS, did well in both games against us. So far, not been too impressed by him, but may just need a season to adapt before we see what he can do.

As for David Silva settling in, I recall him always going down far too easily, looking at the ref for a decision. When he realised he wasn't in La Liga, he soon learned to stay on his feet. His skill was never in question.
