Do people prefer him in the deeper role like today or the false #8 that he's played more often?
I think he's good to perform wherever as long as the team's at it.
I think that center-mid is by far his best position - the guy is phenomenal there - to wit - against Leicester, at one point he, I think, pointed to his feet, asking for the ball, when closely covered by two opponents - he got the ball - and was immediately pressed by both defenders - and yet, he calmly kept position and made a clean pass to one of our attackers. Simply amazing.I don't really agree that he belongs in the centre of the midfield but for games like yesterday he's absolutely perfect. Reminded me of his performance against Liverpool.
B. Silva is good on the wing, but playing the D. Silva position, I think he's far more influential.
Yeah. David's legacy will be his genius, that's why he can play so effectively high up the pitch. Bernardo matches him technically at the very least but he's not got the in game IQ (yet) to to what David does. Further back though, his effort and ability can really shine and it gives everyone else a propping up to control the game.I think the reason it worked so well yesterday was because he didn’t play in David Silva’s position. He played deeper alongside Gündy rather than high up alongside de Bruyne like David does. Gave us much more control in the middle of the park
I was really encouraged with how well him playing there worked. It removes a bit of defensive pressure from the other holding player, and also it gives us another outlet ball from the back, especially when ottamendi and Mendy are playing out. It got us passing centrally through the lines into dangerous areas regularly and fluently.I think the reason it worked so well yesterday was because he didn’t play in David Silva’s position.
