Big shout but if Pep stays in time...

Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne will run games as Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta did (with the added benefit of Foden being able to come in a maintain the quality).

Do people prefer him in the deeper role like today or the false #8 that he's played more often?

I think he's good to perform wherever as long as the team's at it.

I liked his position yesterday, gave us a real energy that we have missed in the middle of the park.

His game reminded me of how Barry used to support our whole left side, really impressed with his discipline and intelligence helping us through the phases. Definiteley was a benefit to Gundogan and Mendy in particular. I have thought that Guardiola is reluctant to play him centrally because he gets on the ball less than D Silva and doesn't dictate the final third like he does/did but I'm not sure there's a player out there who can.

I don't really agree that he belongs in the centre of the midfield but for games like yesterday he's absolutely perfect. Reminded me of his performance against Liverpool.
I think that center-mid is by far his best position - the guy is phenomenal there - to wit - against Leicester, at one point he, I think, pointed to his feet, asking for the ball, when closely covered by two opponents - he got the ball - and was immediately pressed by both defenders - and yet, he calmly kept position and made a clean pass to one of our attackers. Simply amazing.

B. Silva is good on the wing, but playing the D. Silva position, I think he's far more influential.

I think the reason it worked so well yesterday was because he didn’t play in David Silva’s position. He played deeper alongside Gündy rather than high up alongside de Bruyne like David does. Gave us much more control in the middle of the park

Yeah. David's legacy will be his genius, that's why he can play so effectively high up the pitch. Bernardo matches him technically at the very least but he's not got the in game IQ (yet) to to what David does. Further back though, his effort and ability can really shine and it gives everyone else a propping up to control the game.

I was really encouraged with how well him playing there worked. It removes a bit of defensive pressure from the other holding player, and also it gives us another outlet ball from the back, especially when ottamendi and Mendy are playing out. It got us passing centrally through the lines into dangerous areas regularly and fluently.

There is still one detail missing.. Bernardo will be much much better on the right side of the midfield..

If Pep makes that decision and somehow manages with Debruyne that detail - I mean Debruyne will be moved to the left side of the midfield,
we may find out the midfield partnership - which will be the best ever football has ever seen - since xaviesta and kroos-modric..

Bernardo`s ability to maintain the ball and distribute it effectively - can become as important to city, like it was xavi`s for Barcelona...
