I don’t think this is a thing against city. There are plenty of other players in the squad who post jokes with each other on social media, including Bernardo before this post, without causing a big reaction. It was the post that was the problem.

It's completely different for a myriad of reasons. I appreciate that you want to support Bernardo, instinctively I did too. But the reality is I can't in this instance. He'll be alright though and I'm absolutely certain in the future when he speaks about this episode he'll speak about his own regret at his own actions and not at the way people reacted to them.

Having worked for many decades in front line diversity challenges i absolutely believe that the way to a racist free society is for 2 people to be able to share a joke without anyone thinking it is anything other than that.

The only fault that Bernie could conceivably be accused of is that our society is not ready for the future. Sad but true.

You don't even know who the presenter is, so that sums it up. Bernardo Silva was arguably the best player in the world last season, he won 5 trophies. His level of fame is much higher, currently, than Jamie Carragher, so it's inevitable that he gets hung out for it.

Also, there is no incentive for anyone to start a which hunt against Jamie Carragher, he is no threat to the bin dippers title challenge. We know the opposition we're up against, we know their tentacles stretch into media, the FA etc. It's really, really, bloody simple... we can't give them any opportunity to get something over on us because they will. It's what happens when you're the best. Everyone looks for opportunities to bring you down a peg.

Sure, it's been exaggerated and turned into a witch hunt, but it was bloody stupid.

The character is a little gollywog, I can't believe an EU country actually has a product on it's shelves with that image.

There's also the video where he's joking about Mendy not having trousers on. Does the guy not realise he's got millions of eyes on him? If he doesn't go on a race awareness course he needs a bloody media training course as a start!

He comes from a country where that picture is the norm to a country where there is zero tolerance (Unless you're the PM likening Burkas to letterboxes). He's now being charged with having done something racist.... And that charge will stick with him (And City) for life. Totally unfair for him to get that around his neck for an innocent thing.

It was on national tv,MOTD or BT can't remember which it was,that trumps a player that the media barely acknowedge exsists,the difference is it's a city player,it's a witch hunt,if they thought about they might just see one guy not seeing their friend as black which is a beautiful thing

Hardly anyone was outraged about it.

It was media driven by the BBC and Sky as they amplified it by sharing it and then contacted Kick it Out etc for comment.

They were then contacting the F.A. to see what they would do about it.
