Bernardo Silva

Agreed that David Silva is our best player of all time. But he had one of his best seasons ever this year and is still very much at his prime. Given his playing style, there's absolutely no reason to replace him as he might have 3+ years at the very top. Iniesta is 33 for example and is still one of the most impactful players in the world.

Bernardo Silva is very, very good but plays the role that is lowest on our need list. De Bruyne and Sane are both creatively gifted and buying another player like Bernardo Silva or Isco will inevitably stunt their development.

I'm not talking about replacing him now, but in 2, 3 years time or whenever that time may be. The lad is a genius but what I'm trying to say is we can't let it get to the point where we need a last minute replacement. If someone so young and similar in style is available now then to me it makes sense for so many reasons. As much as Sane and KDB are excellent creative players there's a huge difference in style between how Silva and anyone else in our team can play. B. Silva looks similar in style to that way, just a matter of opinion but if he's always as good as he is the few times I've seen him then I'd go for it. Him and Merlin would have plenty of games to rotate and he can learn his trade from the best while we're lucky enough to have him.

So buy Bernardo Silva as back-up for 3 years? Rotating with David Silva just means our best player plays less. Right now, we have more than enough competition in the attacking midfield positions for when he gets tired, which is rare, (De Bruyne, Gundogan, Sane, Sterling in addition to someone like Sanchez we might buy this summer as well as talented prospects like Roberts and Zinchenko).

If Silva's quality drops off even by just a little years from now, there will be be many other world-class creative midfielders (as well as Bernardo Silva) for us to choose from. This won't be "last minute" — rather buying someone when it would add value rather than just buying every good player in the world for the sake of it.

Nothing reliable. But it will probably be 70/30 for him. And yes you probably got a chance. He said about his nickname, messizinho "I have to work a lot to be compare to him, that's al ot of pressure, but i'm just me. (...)We also told me that i look a lot like David Silva, a player that I love to watch"
Here is a rank for the 11 :

Most chances to leave :
- Fabinho and bernardo silva (4 years at the club)
- Sidibé (he said that he was looking for premier league before the season even start, and we got someone better)

50/50
- Bakayoko probably depending on Fabinho
- Falcao (China)

Less chance to leave : Others defenders and Mbappé.

But again you need to understand that it's something true now. If the club sell the "too much" one, it will bring mbappé, mendy, jardim will to leave. I'll go for two only + sidibé.
We signed Tielemans, so.. Bakayoko or fabinho will leave for sure, but even them don't know who will be the choosen one i think :p
But again, we can't tell who is sure to leave. Symply because they didn't talk about it anymore, they stopped every prolongations talk until we get officialy champions.
I can tell you more in few days/weeks.
Cheers! Any updates would be appreciated.

Mate, B.Silva would immediately get into our first 11, he's perfect for JdP. Guardiola would rather omit one of our wingers or defenders from line-up than let such press-resistant player stay on the bench. And Pep never cared about symmetry of 'formations' or whatever you want to call it. If we buy 2 B.Silvas, Guardiola will play them and D.Silva simultaneously. It's obvious, if you're getting the mere idea of 'Cruyffian' version of JdP with its focus on ball control in central areas.
Edit: Just for the perspective, starting line-up of the team that won 2011 CWC vs Santos included Xavi, Messi, Busquets, Cesc, Iniesta, Thiago. Alves should be mentioned as well. City's team now has 1,5 players of that ilk in Silva and Yaya.

You say that we have more than enough competition in the attacking midfielder positions but the reality is that no one steps up to fill Silva's boots. Look at us at Wembley - once we lost Silva we lost our cutting edge. We are a much weaker team without Silva and we do need someone else in the squad who can replicate his style of play.

Skybet don't even have us on the list of possible clubs for Bernardo Silva.

ATM he is 5/4 to stay at Monaco, 3/1 to go to United, 4/1 to RM, 8/1 to Chelsea, 10/1 to Barca, 12/1 to PSG.

So everyone throws the quid on them, we come "out of nowhere" to sign him, Sky make a huge profit.

Fwiw I don't think we'll sign him.
