What’s the difference between selling him normally next year and this new contract he’s getting with this supposed RC? The club is just wasting precious wage space for one year if he’s gonna leave next season. You don’t see Madrid do these kind of stuff.

Have you ever heard of a club offer a contract to a player that’s a negative for the club itself?
We’re basically handing Bernardo on a platter to Barca and best believe they will have the funds to get him next year.

Love Bernie but this bullshit every window is too much

Bernado is a great player and has made the difference for us in many many games, but people telling me he is loyal are talking out of their poop shutes if Barcelona had the money he'd have gone ages ago.

Based on what? IIRC there was an article this week about Barca not having the funds to provide meals for their academy teams or something along those lines... and even if they do, as others have mentioned, Bernardo has more or less earned the right to move away if that's what he really wants. 50M for a player who we've likely gotten the best years out of as well is fair in my eyes.

I'm glad you're nowhere near the clubs negotiations or operations.

absolutely clueless

People don't want to hear it, but if this is a bit rubbish, it's because we've let the midfield question get out of hand over several years. Bernado has been the glue, the sellotape, the bandage and the splint. Agent knows he has us over a barrel. He's also sorting out Cancelo's move, and is the go to guy for Saudi Arabia. We need Bernie, we need those deals, and we still need another player, and he may have some influence one way or another wherever we end up looking.

it is a little frustrating if the release clause bit is true but it can also show how the club value their relationship with players who give their all for the club and treat them with respect?

honestly thank god cause its getting bored, hes great player but i wont miss every summer thinking hes leaving but never actually does cause nobody wants to pay the money
Baffles me every year how no team has paid it. I think the rumours were that we'd accept approx 80M? Thats a world class player for cheaper than the asking price for over 85% of the bang average mids on market this summer.

Anyway, great news he's signing a new contract and I look forward to this shite again next summer :)

Did you read before you posted this.

The difference is that if we don't give him the RC now, he has 1yr left on his contract next season. How much do you think we will get then, a bag of crisps and an IOU?

So, what we have done is extend his contract which not only rewards him for his efforts so far, gives him the RC next year which for all we know may never be triggered but also protects us and guarantees us that fee.

What is negative about keeping one of the best midfielders in the world at the club.

Not sure of the RC but if I were Bernardo I would probably have it. Game is the game.

But City agreeing to it very readily to this number is quite strange. Weren’t we expecting 60 mil from clubs for Bernardo this year?

Extension means a bigger fee and he is still world class.
