Bert Trautmann - R.I.P

I knew Bert quite well. His father-in-law Jack Friar played golf with by dad. Jack was general manager and club secretary of St Helens Town when they signed Bert.

RIP 'Big Fellah' ...... a true blue and someone who justly deserves the title “LEGEND”.

His contribution to our club was immense, along with his part in repairing relationships between our two countries, which should never be underestimated.

Sincere and heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends.

Very sad day.

I met him on a bench outside villareal away.

He was sat there with his wife after the game, they looked very happy.

Thoughts are with his family & friends.

R.I.P. Bert. Certainly among the greatest 3 players in club history. Reading Gary James' book made me really appreciate what he had to go through immediately after the war, particularly when we played London clubs away.
