Devastated by this news.

A legend and a gentleman who welcomed me into his home on many occasions. So sad that he hasn't made it to 90 and leaves behind his lovely wife Marlis.

RIP Bert

Absolutely gutted, he typified everyone that is good with our great club.
R.I.P Bert, you will be sorely missed by everyone.

A man who encompassed the never say die spirit of Manchester City.

And a true gentleman to boot.

He'll be sorely missed.

I get a taxi to the airport off a guy from Blackburn. As a kid he went to Ewood to watch Rovers v City and wanted Berts autogragh. He went on the pitch before the game and asked him, not only did he give him the autograph he allowed him to warm up with him taking shots at him. He wrote a letter to Bert afterwards thanking him. Bert responded with a programme signed by the team and every year afterwards for about 8 years he sent him a programme from the City / Rovers game. He obviously is a massive blue now and always has been since then. Think now how most players would react to that. Legend on and off the pitch. RIP Bert

Never had the pleasure of seeing him play live but read a lot about him. A true MCFC great, sad news.
