Just watching BBC 6 o'clock news - not a muff about Bert Trautmann in the headlines nor on the shite that comes MANUre's media arm, MediaSalfordCity. Bloody disgraceful!
He was on the sports section of the 5Live news at 3, 4 & 5pm if that stops you from being upset.

And there was a special report on him on the Radio4 6 o'clock news - or at least, twitter says there was.

One of the few true city legends (many get banded about as legends but aren't)

bert really was just that, a legend.

R.I.P

The south stand should be "The Bert Trautmann stand" from now on.

Just mentioned him 20 seconds at most, pathetic, if the beeb can put on an hrs documentary about that knob beckham retiring I will be sorely pissed off if a proper tribute isn't arranged for as said the first foreign player to win player of the year, the greatest goalkeeper English football has seen and a man who had a positive impact on two countries recovering from war with each other and generally one of the most fascinating stories in football history
A good report about Bert on Granada Reports, just waiting to see what North West Tonight puts out

Even Talkshite mention it on the main news. Like I said earlier his story transcends football.

There seems to be a suggestion on twitter (from the UKTV twitter feed) that UKTV have decided to re-air his program tomorrow at 8pm on Yesterday as a tribute.

Am half way through reading hi biography by Catrine Clay

'Trautmann's Journey: From Hitler Youth to FA Cup legend'

Published by Yellow Jersey Press (normally a cycling publisher who seem to be branching out)

Fascinating insight into life in inter-war Germany and how manipulative the Nazis were viv a vis the working men and women at the time.

Would recommend

RIP Bert

Talkshite had it as their main story up to about 5pm, also had Big Joe on for a good interview not long after the news broke

R.I.P. Bert. One of my most treasured possessions is a photo of my brother Rob and Bert together when he he met the great man. Sadly I lost my brother in March and now with Bert passing away the memories flood back. R.i.p. guys and thanks Rob for steering me down the blue path in life!
