Bert Trautmann - R.I.P

RIP Big Man- legend is used to often nowadays but this man is credit to that title. A true legend!!

Sad, sad news; condolences to his family and friends. I hope City do something to celebrate and commemorate his life and his time at City.

Quite simply, a real legend.

A very sad day indeed. I was fortunate to watch him for several years
I have put some images and a few clips of old 8mm film from 1957 showing Bert in goal and way he threw the ball out on one of my web pages.
You will find them at the bottom of the page below

Every young City fan should be told about Bert, he's a story that we must all know about. A 'real hero' in blue.

For us city fans his folklore will live one forever.

Rest in peace Bert.

-- Sat Jul 20, 2013 12:48 pm --

Great site pal.

The Birmingham player who broke Bert's neck back in 1956 has exactly the same name as me, although I deny having had anything to do with his injury. However, I do feel a little bit guilty.

A true City legend.
Rest in peace, sir.
You WILL be remembered.
