Yeah its top there but fuckin expensive!!!

Whittakers in Cheadle Hulme is pretty good. I always beleive if a fish is done right, you should be able to break it cleanly in half!

Davenport Chippy Bramhall Lane South Stockport

Ashton's - A6 Great Moor Stockport

That's a decent shout, although as it's less than two minutes from me I can smell the food cooking and crap when you're eating tuna and cucumber.

Others from the past 'The Battered Cod' in Fallowfield used to be great and 'Colins chippy' that used to be at the Cornishman shops donkeys years ago :-)

The Big Fish at Summerfield Village Centre/Dean Row Rd, off the A34 near Handforth is well worth a drive to. Large chips is enough to feed about 4 people. Always has big queues outside.

Not near me, but still in Middleton; The Langley Friery. Won chippy of the year in Manchester not so long ago, cracking chippy!

The Langley Friery on Wood Street! I used to eat from there quite regularly and my Grandad still does. I'm sure he'd have let me know had the chips reduced in quality.
My dentist used to be next to that so used to come out with a numb mouth and get some chips to warm it up. That was my excuse anyway.

Now that would explain several things!

Not many of these are in Manchester, are they?
Bunch of chip-munching hicks and hillbillies...

The only ones I know that are in what could be classed as being in town are in Rusholme or on Portland Street!
Never been to the Rusholme Chippy, but the Portland Street one is pretty nice. Next door to the Circus Tavern, and used to enjoy it there after a jar or 4.

Never been in that chippy but the Circus used to be a great boozer. The old landlord, little Greek fella who used to wander around singing Rat Pack tunes, has left now, I think. Someone on here said he's got another pub in town somewhere.

Is it really Europe's smallest pub? If so, then its true to its slogan; "The smallest bar in Europe, the biggest welcome in the World".
