Best drummer ever!

Sorry to be a killjoy here but there can be no such thing as the worlds best anything when it comes to musicians. It all boils down to taste and how easily you are impressed. Ive been playing guitar in various bands and worked with loads of bona fide muso's on the Manchester music scene for nearly thirty years and I can say hand on heart, I have had the pleasure of knowing some of the best muso's out there and they would hold there own with anyone on the planet.
As far as drums are concerned, although Ive known some absolute crackers, My personal fave was my dear friend Christopher Neil Whitby RIP. He worked at Kellogs for about twenty years until he tragically died of a heart attack about 4 years ago at the age of forty six. Apart from his ludicrous technical ability, his party piece was to play every single part of his drums during a solo, IE, nuts and bolts, under neath his chair, literally every independant part of his kit. Unbelievable. Manchesters best kept secret.

Buddy Rich and Neil Peart are are my fave famous ones, although I could be here all night naming famous drummers worth their salt....

-- Sat Jun 05, 2010 12:06 am --
