Best Foreign Films?

ill take a look at that blck book..

this thread has been cracking for film buffs...

Loving my world cinema at the min....
 
Anyone seen Cell 211? Think it's a spanish film about a prison riot that was on at the cornerhouse recently, had good reviews

yes very good film... Think the yanks are making it at the mo i heard...

hollywood really seem to be running out of ideas these days.. or not willing to take the risk oon anything new... All these remakes and remaking foreign films..

Cell 211... very good idea good film.. Not as good as what i thought it would be after a lot of hype.. but very good all the same....

Lots of anticaption in there thou and you get into the fear of the lead man...

A little far fetched? The whole point of that film was to illustrate just how easy it is for people to blindly follow a 'leader figure' such as Hitler in such a short space of time. I get my GCSE classes to watch it to illustrate the magnetic pull a strong leader can have on people with little aspiration in life, regardless of that person's ideology. It's actually based on a true story. A teacher at a school in a South American country, I forget which, managed to manipulate his class into what was essentially a cult with himself at its head.

when i say far fetched.. It was that it would not happen in a week... maybe you think different? Hence why i said that they should have done it over a term or a school year at least.... I am fully aware that people get brain washed and quickly... Yes they could get braiwashed within a week or a day i understabnd that, although the outcome of the film would not happen like that in a week....
Like i said very good film and would recomend it to anyone..

Black Book was ok. Nothing spectacular, but well worth the watch if you are into WWII movies, which I am.

While not a true foreign language movie (language spoken mostly is English) this is a gem I caught some years ago. Dennis Quaid is the main character, but don't be fooled, he is excellent in this one. It is one of those movies, that seems to have slipped under the radar.
