Best Foreign Films?

Don't think Amelie has been mentioned. Might be too sickly sweet for some bluemooners but I like the quirkiness of it. Never fails to make me smile. A truly gorgeous film.

Does anyone know of a German comedy film? It had a ginger haired guy and a few other friends that were living in quite hard times. It's really funny but I only watched it on a plane years ago and didn't get to watch the ending. I think there are a few films like it with some of the same actors. I know I'm not describing this very well but I can hardly remember it and I don't know the name of the film or the actors. It's been bugging me for a while. I watched it on a plane 2 years ago but because it was in the foreign movies section it might have been older.

Life Is Beautiful (mentioned in the 2nd or 3rd response I think)....absolutely brilliant film!!! WW2 Nazi death camp with humour, tragedy, action, all sorts and a wonderful father and son acting job by the two stars. We used to watch it in Italian class whenever the teacher got all sentimental about home.

Come and See......(Belarus)
City of Life and Death.......(China)
Elite Squad.....(Brazil)
Evil.....(Norway)
Ran....(Japan)
Cinema Paradiso......(Italy)
Man Bites Dog.....(Belgium)
Bicycle Thieves......(Italy)
M........(Germany)
North Face....(Germany)
I love me foreign films and I can highly recommend all of these.

As already mentioned, 'A Prophet' is a good film. Most early Jackie Chan films are brilliant, watched drunken master today, mad but very good.

Another film which someone on here put me on too was '9 Queens'. An excellent film and well worth watching.

Also, infernal affairs, the film which the departed was taken from.
