Saw them the day before at GMEX, Festival of the 10th Summer but this Salford gig was sonething else.....

Guns & Roses at Main Road.

G&R were great when they eventually came on, but the support act's (Faith No More & Soundgarden) were top drawer.

Was that the one that should have been on a Tuesday but Axle was that pissed they never showed up so the gig was postponed until the Sunday ?

The Who at the Gruga Halle in Essen back in the late 70s early 80s. Pure raw energy on stage and the crowd really did go wild.

I don't know if things other than the music influenced it, but Lena Lovich stands out in my mind. Must have been late 70's at some pokey hole locally, can't even remember where it was but it was very loud and sweaty.

Yup. Worked out well for me as it meant I didn't need a day off work.

Reading this makes me wish I was born 20 years earlier. Smiths, joy division, Bowie, the clash gigs would have pissed all over gigs in the modern era.

There's a couple of music festivals every year at the local ski hill, about 20 years ago it snowed a foot in july and just about everybody left. The resort had a marquee tent set up and a couple of the bands, 'Jimmy Vaughn and the Fabulous T Birds' and 'War' decided to play. Maybe 200 people stayed to watch, bags of boomers were just getting handed out, a thick haze of weed...t'was a fine evening
