best league in the world........ my a**e

The Premier League is the best league in the world and it's all down to marketing. Once Sky took it over (and I mean literally) they produced a product that the world wanted to see which puts it at the top.

As for the other leagues, once you drop out of the top 2, nobody apart from the home support is really interested.

In my opinion of course.

a bit unfair to say its all to marketing - yes it is sold well around the world, but there is a product behind it to back up the sales talk.
at the moment it looks like its a two horse race, but at the start of the season would anybody have predicted west brom doing what they are doing?
our league is the most unpredictable predictable league of all the other very predictable leagues.....if that makes sense!!!

This

I think I wrote earlier on this thread that you would never bet your arm top of the league team would win the bottom one though it usually does. City or United going to QPR is never ever guaranteed three points, even if it most probably would be.

You know something, I know it's great that we are now in this top bracket and I wouldn't change anything.... But if you could bring in a method of fair play which would mean at the start of the season anyone could be in with a shout of winning the league I think it would be amazing. It literally is about who can spend the most at the minute and has been for 20 years. Now we are that club it's hard to want anything else but think back to when we were average, best hope you have is a decent cup run.

Not so in Germany, most teams have very good away support and most fans are interested in watching other teams in the league on tv.
The premier league over here is only a peripheral interest, it has nowhere near the interest it has in such as Asia where they have no decent football of their own.

I totally agree mate, what I'm saying is that since the takeover of the league by Sky, it's got it to where it is now. Without Skys influence would our league be as well branded and sponsored as the others; look at all the new contract from Sky and see what that will bring to the party.

As for the German League that bayern Blade brings up, it is very competitive within itself and the country but does it really have the appeal globally? That's why I mention the home support.

I do think with the money from the new television rights deals, the Premier League could get very interesting in terms of clubs spending in the next couple of years.

You are going to get mid table to relegation teams getting the same money as the winner of Premier League gets now, around 60m is it??

That is incredible when you think about it, promoted teams are going to be able to spend like a top 4/6 team does now on new players, making it more competative. You might even get mid table teams tapping up players from top 4 teams from the other big leagues in Europe because they can pay their transfer fees and wages.

That leads to another thing, something many clubs are trying to put a stop to before the new television money comes in; putting a block on players and agents asking for pay rises because clubs are going to be earning more.

The Premier League could become very competative in the next couple of years, I just hope it does not become a place where players just want come for a nice pay day and having average players on big money.

How about passing some of the money into fans by having a 24 month ticket freeze? Times are hard, but certainly not for footballers, and its about time they put something back, however it will never happen as they're all just a greedy bunch of twats.

Italian Serie A, ok i'm joking, i think the best football league in the world is the EPL but by talking about supporters i don't know, maybe the italian league is still the best.

I think the English are the most loyal as we will always have big crowds and fans going to games even if tickets are stupid prices and the games are on TV, but by far we are not the best for atmosphere etc..

The country and its laws are to conservative to allow ultras groups, flares etc to boost atmosphere and allow persistant standing - although that might change - we pretty much either sit down and watch the game or have a few drinks and have a good sing song.
