Best left back we’ve had over the last decade?

Who was our best LB of the last decade?

  • Gaël Clichy

  • Benjamin Mendy

After a brief period of contemplation; I’m going to say Fabian Delph. Alas, it was only a season but what a season that was.
 
Clichy was a top, top player. That 2011/12 season we were blessed wtih four top full-backs (be it through talent or form).

I'd put Clichy first, Delph second, Kolarov third. I think Mendy is awful and I'd probably think that were he playing for us 10-20 years ago. We're a much better side with Zinchenko in it.
 
Clichy was probably the best of an average bunch. A few have had stand out seasons here and there but we’ve not had a genuinely top class left back for a long time.
It’s weird how one position has been so difficult to fill and caused us so many problems.
My favourite was Kolarov but he like all the others had his problems.
 
Clichy though Kolarov did better than OK and Miller and Delph did OK when they filled in.
