Pretty sure this thread has been done before in some form but I'm not searching for past posts so here's a few favourites from a very long list:

Van Halen at Maidson Square Garden 1981 - Diamond Dave holds court @ VH's first MSG appearance.

Queen @ The Cow Shed (Stafford) - inspired "We are the Champions".

Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley

Reading festival 1993,1994.
Phoenix festival 1995.
Soundgarden 4 days after Cobain killed himself.
Rage against the Machine. Ritz Manchester.
David Bowie, Guns n Roses at Maine rd.

My first and third gigs were at Kings Hall: T.Rex & The Who; both gigs still rank among my favourites.

A lot of the gigs that are high on my list of favourites are the early ones, when it was all new and fresh to me. Lots at the Free Trade Hall: Queen, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Robin Trower, UFO, Thin Lizzy, The Tubes, Rory Gallagher & Blue Oyster Cult among the standouts there.

Sisters of Mercy Leeds Uni.
The Mission- Finsbury Park and Birmingham (secret) concert.
Jimi Hendrix - New Century Hall, Jan 67
Uriah Heap - Dortmundhalle 73?
The Cure - Rock City, Nottingham.
New Model Army - Leicester and Rock City.
 
Depeche Mode at Crystal Palace was as good as it gets. If you grew up as a fan of both City and DM in this country then this concert was on a par with QPR nearly 20 years later. DM were at the height of their powers that day and I never thought I'd get to see them in a stadium in this country with the negative press that made the sheep follow the musical equivalent of the rags. It gave me hope that one day City could rise like DM did and the Keegan years were almost our Violator but May 2012 was definitely another Crystal Palace.
