you seen/read Unforgivable blackness longsight? book was made into a documentary and narrated by james earle jones (the great white hype) and samuel l jackson. Its on jack johnson, and for me, though never able to obviously see him with my own eyes, he's still regarded (quite legitimately i hasten to add) as the greatest of them all. Christ sake, when i watch him you don't half realize where Ali got his jib but also his style...... it alludes to him being the master of the unpredictable, the consensus back then was moving side to side, he invented the counter on the back foot. Joyous read/watch

Was given the book last Christmas. Brilliant. I've got a bit of a library of boxing books and old fight videos. Didn't know about the Johnson documentary though. He was disgracefully treated by the establishment. Interestingly, the Republican beaten by Obama, John McCain, is a boxing nut who led the campaign for a presidential pardon
