Mentioned the great Chavez on page 4 Adam! There's a great documentary on DVD called JC Chavez available. His son is the most protected fighter in America though
Was thinking of getting that DVD but I heard it gets a bit political or sumat. So its good then??
It does get bogged down in places but if you're a fan, it's worth ploughing through for the good stuff. Also, jamie, Dave Boy Green was very game and always entertaining. Wasn't his nickname 'the Fen Tiger'? Fat chance, 'the Beast' Mugabi was a scary man!

Yeah he was more than dangerous M13, remember the lesson he gave Michael Watson.

You mentioning the Fen Tiger got me thinking back....remember the two epics between Jones and McRory.

Holyfield at light-heavy was an handfull. Nobody on the planet suggested Tyson was past it when Evander met him at heavy, the tickets flew out, he'd just come out of nick and he'd got his mad up....he ran into a fella that had his number. Tyson is a self confessed old dear mugger and once he was matched that little faulty gene got hunted down.

Never thought Larry Holmes got the respect he deserved either. Not the most explosive or exciting, but a master craftsman with probably the best jab ever seen from a heavyweight

'remember the two epics between Jones and McRory'.

That would be Colin Jones and Milton McRory

you seen/read Unforgivable blackness longsight? book was made into a documentary and narrated by james earle jones (the great white hype) and samuel l jackson. Its on jack johnson, and for me, though never able to obviously see him with my own eyes, he's still regarded (quite legitimately i hasten to add) as the greatest of them all. Christ sake, when i watch him you don't half realize where Ali got his jib but also his style...... it alludes to him being the master of the unpredictable, the consensus back then was moving side to side, he invented the counter on the back foot. Joyous read/watch

Was given the book last Christmas. Brilliant. I've got a bit of a library of boxing books and old fight videos. Didn't know about the Johnson documentary though. He was disgracefully treated by the establishment. Interestingly, the Republican beaten by Obama, John McCain, is a boxing nut who led the campaign for a presidential pardon

After the epic battle inside and outside of the COMS, I would have to say Shady 'one-bomb' geezer!!..
