Best War Film??

I actually watched the orignial Hitler rant scene; can't remember what exactly it was called but it was based on one of Adolf's secretaries caleed Traudl or something from Munich and the final few days in the Bunker.

Downfall.

She was called Traudl Junge.

I am glad someone (City Hobgoblin) has mentioned the finest war film of them all - Stanley Kubrick's "Paths of Glory". Some (eagles daring etc) are a matter of opinion but this is quite possibly the greatest. It still makes me angry watching it, the corruption in high places and the sheer power of it.

If you've not seen it, and it comes on the film channels, I urge you to watch. No glamorisation, and not much blood, and it's in black & white (adding to the authenticity).

Another of my favourites - has anyone seen it? "The Way to the Stars". When John Mills reads out the poem by the lost pilot it still brings a tear to the eye.

Please someone say you've seen it and make me happy!

Just watched it in full. The story telling, the horrific drama. Yank accent was the norm

Black and White who gives a shit I was captivated

Anyone know what the movie about a team of Mercenaries was called? think it was in Vietnam based there.. And it was a 1970s

You might be thinking about Uncommon Valour where Gene Hackman gets his son's old army mates to rescue him from a Vietnam POW camp years after the war ended.
