Best/worst cup game?

Losing at home 2-1 to West Ham in the q/f about 10 years ago was painful. I'd convinced myself that finally we were gonna go all the way... But of course we lost to a team we probably should have beat
 
Worst was 1-0 away at Cardiff in the early 90's. I think we'd heard that Franny had taken over on the way down if memory serves.

Best has the be the semi v them. Brilliant day :-)

One of the worst feelings ever that, I'm sure there were 60,000 city fans in wembley that day and they turned in a shite performance like that. The usual drunken idiots trying to fight fellow city fans. Was glad to get back to Watford junction and back in the car.
 
Best : Sunderland. Loved the celebrations after the goals, especially Nasri's and the relaxed atmosphere. I was in Londo the night before and it was Sunderland everywhere but just having a good piss up and a laugh. I was too tense against the rags and Stoke to really enjoy the game before the final whistle although afterwards was great.

Other than that ipswich at Villa Park.

Worst- Jesus where do I start with this one.

Liverpool semi final Alf Grey game

Cup final replay- heartbreaking as a 12 yr old.

notts county as mentioned previously.

Spurs at home pitch invasion.

United 1-0 away in 80's/early 90's. We should have won.

United 4-2 when we got dicked by 10 men.

Wigan - horrendous day from the Mancini to be sacked rumours to the shameful performance by the players to the soaking on the way out.

But the award for me goes to Blackburn in 06/07 or whenever it was when the day was toxic, the fans fighting each other, abusing the players and an absolute wank performance from the team. I thought at that point we would never win anything in my lifetime.

^^This. Driving to what felt like the middle of an armpit, being eyeballed by the locals at a pub right next to the ground until they realised they were the only locals in the pub. Got them so pissed they didn't even make it into the ground then we were shite. Locked in the ground, shat on by a police horse and a age to get back to Manchester. Only good thing was I wasn't driving.

Best: other than the Scum it has to be the Ipswich semi at Villa Park in 1981. Massed ranks in the Holt End, Dave Bennett falls over and Paul Power sticks it in from the free kick. Fantastic...

Nah.it was a def foul by Butcher i think on Bennett,whose silky movement had engineered a yard between the two players....

Going back to Brentford, 89( i hate brentford) i was there at the front of the away terrace..there was a crush and a panic just before kick off i fell onto the turf face down along with loads others..picked my head up to see City kick off. City! City! City!
 
Worst : Home quarter final v Spuds , got stuffed 4-1 , we were so optimistic of a trip to Wembley , pitch invasion capped the day off
Best : The Rags Wembley Semi-Final , finally shut the bastards up and put them firmly in their place , a day they will NEVER forget , shame we couldnt have saved it for the final , and greased the FA Cup and shove it up Baconfaces arse.
 
There are numerous games that are the worst
Shrewsbury, Halifax and Forest spring to mind immediately

But the best was the 2-2 draw at Everton in 81

Actually ended 4-2 with Phelan's goal at the end after the invasion and punch up on the pitch. We took the lead through Sheron
 
For FA Cup, really remember the highs and lows of the 87-88 season. It was the year we beat Huddersfield 10-1 in the league then got drawn against them in the third round. Everyone thought we'd be through easily but we scraped through the first game 2-2 after John Gidman equalised at the old London Rd (?) ground with a daisycutter in injury time, I think after a free kick. The replay at Maine Road was 120 minutes of boredom but we did them 3-0 at theirs in the second replay - remember them?
Next round was Blackpool away and we were in the only part of the open end at Bloomfield Road that hadn't been condemned. Again, we needed a last-minute equaliser to force a replay. Think it was Paul Lake or Paul Stewart but even now I can remember the ball pinging around the box for about 15 seconds before we scored. We won 2-1 in the replay, I think with Stewart scoring against his former club.
Fifth round was Plymouth at home. We'd hammered them 6-2 in the Simod Cup that season - three days after the Huddesfield demolition in the league and it was a 3-1 routine win. Can remember the length-of-the-field breakaway third finished off, I think, by Paul Moulden.
Then the dippers in the QF at Maine Road in the only televised game. Packed Kippax. Seem to remember it being a bit tense. Think David White had a half-chance in the first half but in truth we were well beaten. Think Craig Johnson had a blinder.
Talking of second replays, think it was the season after when we got Millwall in the third or fourth round. Ended up in second replay at old Den on a nasty, dark, winter night. Paul Lake scored a screamer to make it 1-1, I think, in front of us, but it was a horrible place and we lost 3-1. Even then we were kept in for ages. I remember a small part of me thinking it was a good job we lost.
As others have said, Notts County away was horrid. Really enjoyed the away game at Burnley when Niall Quinn scored and we won 1-0.
They're all games I was at before moving to the other side of the world.
Again as others have said, West Ham at home in the quarter-final was a horrible TV experience - just as beating the vermin in the semi was brilliant. Came back for both finals - not having been at either league win, the Stoke game was one of my top four live experiences (Bradford away for promotion, 5-1, Gillingham being the others) and therefore the best in the FA Cup. The Wigan final was a nightmare and, like others have said, some (most?) of our players that day sullied their reputations.
 
Worst - losing 3-0 to fucking forest just when I'd started to expect a bit more from City.

Best - no fucking contest, the final against Stoke.
 
Best Stoke , even though we beat them twats in the semi , I never thought I would see us win another trophy

Worst Notts County and Blackburn

Oh and best goal Kingladze against West Ham at Maine Road , magical and the fans saying go on , go on as he put Rio on his ass , smashed it in off the post , pure theatre
 
Worst has to be the debacle against Wigan in the final. I'm still angry about that game, we threw away a trophy there, against an utter dogshit team who if we'd actually played like we were even slightly arsed we would have fucking smashed. Absolute disgrace that fucking game. I hated Wigan before and I hated them even more after that. Complete travesty, another FA Cup was there for the taking.

Best game was definitely the win against Stoke - a trophy at last, and we'd truly arrived. What an amazing day!
 
Another bad one was West Ham at home in the QF on a Monday night just 2 days after we had a league game. Pearce played a weakened side in the league game but included Samaras who we actually thought was the equivalent of Aguero at the time! Samaras get injured and misses the game and we go out 2-1!
 
Worst Cup game, the one at home last season v Newcastle, ( Carling/Capital/ whatever) when we put a strong side out, got beat 2-0, and were abysmal, my son's first City game, thankfully he wasn't put off by it!
Best, beating UTD at Wembley in the FA Cup, singing myself hoarse, and hugging random other City fans when we scored!
 
1984 Blackpool .
That was an awful result .
In fact the year before Blackpool were near the bottom of division 4 .
A good F.A cup win was Reading in 2011.
It set up the Derby Semi final .
