Exactly. Had an issue about 5 years ago where some random nutcase got in the back of my car and tried to attack my then 6 year old daughter. I managed to punch him out the car, and once out he was screaming that he wanted me daughter to suck his dick (say this to make it clear this was sexually motived, he was a fucking paedophile). Got away, daughter safe, police called, we found the ****, CPS dropped the case and i was told this was due to understaffing. He got a slap on the wrist and a small fine. Austerity Britain. Int in great.

This exactly - plain clothes officers means they can claim there are more out there than are actually on patrol - the whole point being you aren't supposed to know who they are.......

Lets be honest though this is a knee jerk reaction that they have been bounced into by events. There was supposed to be the passing of a populist bill that they could hold aloft as their reaction to BLM and thus be a sop to the R/W press and its readers. Its a bill that refers to statues and monuments 8 times and women 0 times.

The awful events surrounding the murder of Sarah Everard the cack handed Policing on the vigil on Saturday night has meant that they feel they have to do something and that something that has been thought up on the hoof is highlighted as such by the paucity of thought and deliberation before blurting out whatever they can think of.
 
Not practical or legal for all women to carry it, but I make sure my missus doesn't leave the house on a girls night or if she's out alone without Pepper spray within easy access. I make no apologies, the fucked up world we sometimes live in requires it, sadly.

Less than 2 years ago councils were being lauded for having fewer streetlights switched on because it saved cash and reduced light pollution....... fucking joke everyone who said at the time this would lead to bad things happening was told to calm down and get a grip
