I applaud the decision of the Dutch FA. It was a reckless and over-agressive challenge which endangered the safety of another player.
And it's not the first leg De Jong has broken... I'm pleased the Dutch took this decision because it's bad rep for them. That WC-final destroyed decades of history of great football they had build up.

Oh, and according to a number of polls in the Dutch media, 70% of the supporters are behind the decision taken by Van Marwijk.

I hope Nige never changes. The Alonso kung fu kick was out of order but his tackle yesterday was no different than what you see in every Premier League match. Only Ben Arfa's unfortunate injury has caused the latest witchhunt. Siege mentalities aren't always bad though if the manager plays off it and uses it to make his team closer.

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

We should make the next home game Nigel De Jong day. Let him feel the Manchester City love.

For those defending De Jong, he broke Stuart Holden's leg in March, put six studs into Alonso's chest in July and now Ben Arfa. about 2 hours ago via web

What a tw@t! Can't believe these people are paid, not even a hint of objectivity.
Whilst I agree yesterdays tackle was just an unfortunate incident, and was actually a good challenge, his previous is bound to get mentioned now, especially the WC kung foo kick. These things happened, people will comment on them now that this latest incident has happened too. You can't argue with previous form and the records now say Nige has broken 2 legs inside a year and tried to (inadvertedly), cave in the chest of Xabi Alonso. As I say though, yesterdays challenge, for me, was a good challenge if just a bit OTT, and if he did it another 99 times HbA's leg would have landed in such a way the break simply wouldn't have happened. If the other 2 incidents weren't there to talk about, this latest one wouldn't be getting so much attention in my view.

And Van Bommell, who is one dirty bastard.

Van Bommel isn't popular with supporters of Dutch Total Football, they'd rather see a player like Janssen take his place. But I can't think of Van Bommel taking out 2 players for months with broken bones.

Van Bommell was more of a disgrace than anyone in the World Cup. Even the commentators could not understand how he avoided so many cards for reckless and late tackles

You probably couldn't, but you'd probably remember him kicking fuck out of every one ALL world cup.

Re: Big Nige Dropped {merged}

What a JOKE, no wonder they will never win a World Cup with that clown in-charge ahahaha!

Let me get this straight, the "manager" (muppet) decides to drop De Jong from his qualifying squad because he made a tackle that happened to injure Ben Arfa? PLEASE! This is the "rough and tough Premiership" afterall, the most "physical" league, and De Jong is getting punished even though according to the officials it was a legal tackle?

FFS! It's not like De Jong is showing any malice (unlike that dirty Argentinian Collochini on Tevez), that is part of his game and as others said I hope to God he doesn't change it because of this.

I could understand if he was getting sent off multiple times or something. Besides, the coaches son van Bommel is a FAR more dirtier player than De Jong.
