Gary James is spot-on when he flags up the boardroom shuffle which opened the door for Swales as our biggest mistake. Swales made one blunder after another..the worst of which was bringing back Big Mal.

before my time but i have looked into and i understand the basics and it was probably the worst IMO.

i'm planning on reading gary's book soon, the city years, might order it off amazon when i've been paid.

Nice to hear. It seems to be cheapest off amazon. I hope you enjoy it when you get it. You can always pester your local library to order a copy for you to borrow instead.

i'll buy it because i'm sure family members would like to borrow it after i've finished.

Mark Hughes!
Not claiming he's a great manager but for me he bought a lot of good players but didn't know how to manage them, lescott, kompany, zaba,Bellamy, given(short term),de jong, tevez, kolo, all part of fa cup/title winning sides.

All well and good, but £24m for Adebayor, £18m for RSC and £10m for Bridge on ridiculous contracts says differently. Adding to that, playing Kompany in midfield and almost forcing Hart out of the club, I'd say hiring Hughes-less was a pretty big mistake!

Selling maine road and moving to SHITELANDS.

EMPLOYING BIG NOSED STEWARDS WITH HEADS THE SIZE OF HUMPTY DUMPTYS WALKING UP AND DOWN THE TOUCHLINE ACTING LIKE TIN GODS?BRING BACK PLOD

SACKING PETER REID.

NOT GETTING MANCINI HIS TRANSFER TARGETS?TIGHT FISTED T..TS

NOT SIGNING MESSI

Obviously won't be the biggest mistake, but I too think we should have given Shaun Goater another year. Considering how much less he played than Anelka, he got just over half as many goals in 2002-2003. I know Anelka pretty much carried us goals-wise the year after, but I think that season may have been more relaxing for us if we had Goater's goal contribution there.

At the time, I remember being pretty fucked off that Berkovic left.

My old fella reckons it was letting Allison return.

not really a mistake but not signing van buyten for what 2 mill. Appointing Wonderwall Alan ball was a bad one. Is it true he use to make the players watch the game if we got beat. or have i made that up. I know he did when we got beat against barnsley but not sure if it was everytime.

Time wasting for the draw at home to Liverpool when we needed a win to avoid relegation was a /typical city mistake.
Or Danny Mills

Spending millions on great players and hiring Mancini to put the team together.

The greatest mistake made by the City.

You can't blame Hughes for the prices of the players, everyone knew we had millions to spend and hiked up the prices of every player we looked at. Secondly we had to offer big big wages to players and great contract to average player because we were nobodies going know where. It had to start somewhere.

For me the first year was the sheikhs hardest year financially, the image of city couldn't have been much worse. Crippling debts, rogue owner, years of winning fook all, some piss poor journey men and a bunck of successful knob next door.

When you think how far we've come and yet some are still fookin moaning that mancini isn't right. I'd kiss sheikh Mansour if I met him, he's been utterly brilliant for this club and Manchester

-- Thu Mar 14, 2013 6:38 pm --
