Bloody hell, some of the posts I've read on this subject don't half paint a morbid picture of the posters test have posted.
If you happen to have friends and family in your life that want to wish you a happy birthday then lucky you, you should probably embrace that regardless of whether you 'don't like the fuss'.
Don't get me wrong, I too don't particularly like a fuss being made but I also quite like the day as those that actually give a toss about me do contact me in some form or another to wish me well on the day and it'd a nice thing to receive.
Me and the wife generally have a day in town, few pubs and try to eat at a restaurant that we've not tried on each our birthdays or the Saturday after said birthday at least.
My birthday is also on the 17th May, it's a good date as there's sometimes a City game and possibly even an FA Cup final. This year its fell on the Real Madrid home game.
Just enjoy your birthday blues, it won't be long until you no longer have one.
