Bitter blues.

100% bollox. I know of fans (myself included) who followed City around in the 80's & early 90's who, for whatever reasons (usually family, careers, etc), don't get to many games now. Are you really saying they are not real blues?

Something else... yes, loyalty meant a lot back then, but I tell you something for certain... those who didn't turn up to games too often were never slagged off by those who did. That's something that seems to have crept in over the last few years and it's sad & pathetic.

Spot on Cheesy, especially how this seems to have crept to be on the backs of those not at every game. Obviously the age of t'Internet and forums like this have their part in it. But it isn't good to see/hear.

Like yourself, I went all over with City in the 80's/early 90's. I was young, with no ties or real responsibilities. times and priorities change.

Oh, and my old man, Blue since, well forever, took me to Maine Road as a kid, (and my cousin) and made us into the Blues we are really.
Well, he is almost 80 now. Gave up his season ticket a year ago as not in the best of health, and hasn't been to ANY games this season, but is hoping to be well enough to see what could be, in his words, his last chance to see City in a European Quarter Final, so I went down to queue and get him a ticket.
So, if any of the Attendance Police on here would like his address to write and tell him he's not a real Blue, let me know....

a blue is a blue, unlike rags who are glory hunting plastics, if a blue is watching city on tv he would do so wishing he was able to attend the game, a rag would never even consider doing so. i know a rag (a season ticket holder ffs) whose local pub saves him his seat in front of the tv for every match.
this is the difference between the two sets of fans.

as for attendance police i have 2 points of view.

1, i am lucky, i'm old.nowadays i get to most games wherever, whenever but my family have grown up, i now work for myself and as long as the credit crunch comes to an end soon will continue to do so.
whilst making my way through life i have had to miss hundereds of games, ok going to every games possible but at times that might have been half a dozen a season.
i was no less a blue for it.
btw, no sky in those days, radio and motd for me, even then motd only showed 2 or 3 games.

2, the bit though that riles me is the people who dont/cant get to a game come on here talking crap, hughes out/in, robbbie is this, bellamy is that. even sky etc do not show the whole picture of what has gone on. the off the ball running, the snidy fouls on robbie and fucking barmy refs like the tv itself ball watching.

other than that a blue is a blue.

this...
same as bill went as a kid from 5ish in 60s with my mam n dad then home n away thoughout 70/80 s , then family life n kids kick in and you cant go as much as you would like, but i instilled city in my kids and now like yourself are lucky to be able to again ..with my kids though. so everyone lay of people if your a blue thats all the matters .lol infact i broached the subject of when the kids leave ..maybe me n the wife could visit all our great cities every week ...hehe whilst catching the city matches ...she,s melowing she didnt give me the look..

We are our own worst enemies, fighting and argueing over who has the right to attend the game.

I have a season ticket, and will claim my seat later today, however, I q'd up yeaterday for over an hour to get our kid a ticket, this will be his 1st game this season, his excuse, he lives in Paris, part timer I know. He will be bringing his two kids, both anglo/french blues with him, their 1st game ever, spoke to them yesterday to tell them i had got their ticket, both laughing with excitement, and they will sing their hearts out.

Our kid followed City home and away (when our away support wasn't that great) early 80's early 90's, went everywhere, i would like someone to say he isn't bue enough for a ticket. He along with thousands of others ave waited for this moment for 30-40 years, if you havn't got a ticket for the match, and you have been to other UEFA cup matches, you have my sympathies, but stop slagging off fellow blues who have secured a ticket.

The club did everything to secure a full house, maybe should of limited the amount of tickets per person, but I credit them on their initiative on the £5 ticket scheme, if this brings future support for the club that can only be a good thing, surely.

Not in my book. if you're all talk, and can't be botrhered to go to the games then you're not a blue

we were proud of our support in the 90s because they turned out in increasing numbers in the lower Leagues

That loyalty mean a lot then. I know plenty of people who claim to be City fans but don't go to the games, and they are not blues in my eyes. Just mouth.

Cmon Marvin, you do some good posts mate, but this is a crock of sh*te!

What does make 'blue' in your eyes?

Someone who goes to EVERY game?
Someone who goes to 1 game, 2 games 5 games???
Someone who only misses 1 game a season, 2 games, 5 games???
Someone who goes to every home game?
Someone who goes to every away game?
Someone who goes to 5 away games, 10 away games???
Someone who buys a season ticket?
Someone who regardless of circumstance, goes to most games, 1 game, 2games etc?
Someone who goes to the Euro matches, regardless of PL match attendance?

Are they not 'blue' in your eyes if:

They had many a season ticket in the past but due to priorities changing, they no longer have one and only get to about 10 games per season? (That'd be me then)
Were die-hard fans in the past but cant go anymore due to finances, family commitments, work commitments etc, and as such, should not be posting on here either?

And then once you have decided who is blue and who isnt, at what stage are they allowed to post their opinions on here and not be 'all mouth'?

Sorry mate, i aint havin it. A blue is a blue is a blue in my book. All walks of life, All over the world, All varying attendance stats, all different reasons for being a City fan, and all as passionate as the next blue.

Just off to Hope Hospital to visit a good friend and lifelong season ticket holder.
He's missed no end of matches recently, though - mainly on account of having a brain tumour and being on a ventilator.
I'm sure it will aid his recovery no end when I inform him that he is no longer a blue.
Try thinking prior to posting next time please.

I'd be interested in knowing the ages of those people on this thread who have this 'bigger blue than you' attitude. I'd be willing to bet that they're all under 30. As I said earlier, the attitude of City fans to other blues has changed over the last few years & it's a bloody shame.

Reckon you might be right there Cheesy, but also with the exception of just one or two older ones who refuse to believe that any other mortal could possibly be as 'blue' as them.
