Blackburn Vs City Post Match Reaction Thread

If Silva's shot was two inches lower it could have been an exhibition. But it didn't, and the nerves were jangling long before half time.

That's half the reason why it looked messy.

The other half was out of our hands.

Blackburn's football was pre-industrial. Men banging on rocks with other rocks.

And the ref decided it would be fun to see which side would cope better under MMA rules. Then he realised, he wasn't having any effect on the result one way or the other, so he started penalising us and whilst still letting Blackburn run riot. Not exactly a recipe for Joga Bonito, but apparently letting the underdog rake studs down the new boy's thighs is exactly what makes the premiership 'the best league in the world'.

like it Chick, he was worse than Clattenberg

Oh yeah, should have added a special mention to Mr Marriner. A reputation card for Balotelli, the funniest reputation card for De Jong and his invisible legs, and just a generally all round pathetic performance. Blackburn were no better either. Played for everything. If West Ham go down and they stay up it would be a travesty (Shame we have to play West Ham really, would much rather have the chance to take 3 points off some of the other clubs down there)

Tonight was proof that the support can make the difference. It's a cliché, but the Darwen End was the 12th man.

Performance wasn't the best but everyone behind that net helped drag the team over the line.

All season long, the rags have shown how performance doesn't have to be the best, not even to win the title.

Wasn't a convincing performance if you ask me. Yes, we won and we played decent. Yes, it was away and yes Blackburn are fighting for their lives. But, there was something missing.

I felt Mancini had a really good game. Made the perfect substitution, one that he had to make and was clearly against his instincts, which is to defend. But it worked and good on him. He started the correct side too.

I nearly lost my voice again (after the semi) when Dzeko scored, but I think they really scared us at times and our passing was terrible. I mean, it was atrocious for the start of the second half. We were unlucky not to score a couple more, but they deserved one as well.

Great to have a win away though, at the end of the day we did deserve to win. The defensive line and Hart were superb as always. Well done Dzeko finally scoring, hopefully he can get a bag for us next year.

Edit -

If you play shit and win, what are you capable of doing when you play well?

;)

Beating the rags in the FA cup semi. ;-)

I'd give it 6.5-7/10. Not excellent, but still better than average.

Good finish by Edin. set it up very well with the first touch and made no mistake.

I think a typical away match with City having their chances and the home team. having to ball a bit more. Blackburn didn't really threaten our goal with clear cut chances. It was there to be won and we won it.

Massive 3 points. On we go...

The thing that made me laugh tonight was that Blackburn say they play football. Bollocks they always just lump it forward, always have, always will. This was a great win by us, and perhaps more than that, Stoke will just be as direct and effective and we've stood up and be counted to the man. Well done tonight blues, you've done us proud!!

I don't know what most people were watching, but I thought we were fantastic tonite. Anyone who expected the first 20 minutes to have continued the whole night is a bit dodgy in the brain area.

Yaya Toure was immense, Silva was buzzing. And I even liked Kolarov's work from leftback better than I have in the past. Zab overlaps were good, and Lescott was effecient and much more confident than usual.

Blackburn just fought hard to get back in it and they did. Shaite happens. MOM for the 3rd game in a row, Yaya effing Toure. I think he is rounding into midseason form... Albeit 5 months late :P

good summary. Don't think we were that bad, but our last 2 wins were very eye-pleasing so maybe that's what some people expected tonight. For a team that is a point off the relegation spots this was only their 5th home loss. It's a tough ground to play.

Was definitely squeaky bum time after we scored, when that free kick in the last minute went through to Hart it may have taken a few years off my life!

Kompany as usual won everything but he was much more sloppy than usual and it almost cost us!

I thought Yaya was a bit wasteful when attacking today, especially in the latter stages of the first half. AJ was mostly invisible and wouldn't surprise me if we see Balo and Dzeko both in attack on Sunday. I'd probably bring in Milner too. 2 games unsubbed for Jimmy, unfortunate, quality player but we've got a lot of games coming up.

Silva MOTM for me.

Well what a surprise, we put a cross in and a player who thrives on crosses scores. Not fucking rocket science is it? Been saying for weeks that Dzeko needs to be judged when we actually play with a style that gives the lad a chance to shine.

What game were you watching? It was a blocked shot from Silva not a cross.
