On the game thread everyone was screaming the usual: "Take out Barry and bring in Dzeko" I called the obvious sub: AJ out Dzeko in. AJ wasn't as effective, but he did play better than he normally does when he is not scoring.Andouble said:Dax777 said:I don't know what most people were watching, but I thought we were fantastic tonite. Anyone who expected the first 20 minutes to have continued the whole night is a bit dodgy in the brain area.
Yaya Toure was immense, Silva was buzzing. And I even liked Kolarov's work from leftback better than I have in the past. Zab overlaps were good, and Lescott was effecient and much more confident than usual.
Blackburn just fought hard to get back in it and they did. Shaite happens. MOM for the 3rd game in a row, Yaya effing Toure. I think he is rounding into midseason form... Albeit 5 months late :P
good summary. Don't think we were that bad, but our last 2 wins were very eye-pleasing so maybe that's what some people expected tonight. For a team that is a point off the relegation spots this was only their 5th home loss. It's a tough ground to play.
Was definitely squeaky bum time after we scored, when that free kick in the last minute went through to Hart it may have taken a few years off my life!
Kompany as usual won everything but he was much more sloppy than usual and it almost cost us!
I thought Yaya was a bit wasteful when attacking today, especially in the latter stages of the first half. AJ was mostly invisible and wouldn't surprise me if we see Balo and Dzeko both in attack on Sunday. I'd probably bring in Milner too. 2 games unsubbed for Jimmy, unfortunate, quality player but we've got a lot of games coming up.
Silva MOTM for me.
Yeah Yaya lost 2 balls he could have placed better, but his acceleration on defense today was off the charts for me. The way he was charging down Blackburners gave me the willies. :) And that goal was all him. He wanted it more than the blackburn players wanted to stop it. Even after we were under serious pressure, anytime we booted out, it was Yaya chasing the long punt and forcing the defender to go back to Robinson. This gave City a chance to come off their back foot often. I think Yaya is on a high right now. And when he is like this, God watch over whoever is in the opposition. Coz he can be a menace!
