Against Sunderland at bloomfield rd, was a screamer on a piss wet through day. I still remember it well. I bet if you saw it it would all come back...? I'm sure 'Budgie' was Blackpools keeper that day as well before he left for Villa.
I was at that game, sat on the wall right behind the goal that Walsh scored into, what a match, not just the goal but Sunderland had a penalty to equalise late on and a policeman behind the nets was doing a dance to put the taker off! It worked and Burridge saved it.
There used to be bags of trouble at Bloomfield Road,
I was at the game against Bolton when a lad got killed and the police kept everyone back in the ground, my mum went mental because it was on the news that a young lad had died and of course she presumed it was me.
The Spion Kop behind the goal was huge and the fans used to battle for the centre, the authorities put a fence up but that didn't bother Stoke fans, they broiught a ladder! It was like watching Cloppa Castle as they attempted to lay siege to the Blackpool fans.
Blackpool had their fair share of nutters in those days, many a 'big' club came a cropper.
