Blatter claims UEFA draws were rigged

I'm not 100% convinced by Septic's claims. He'd be putting a noose around his own neck if it were true. And besides, it would be a logistical nightmare to rig a draw like that: you'd need way too many to be in on it and spend your entire life praying everybody keeps their mouths shut.
I'd like it to be the case, mind you: just to see Septic and his bent cronies languishing in a prison cell for years and years to come. But I just can't see how they'd pull off such a massive con trick and get away with it for so long.

But there again, I am a gullible little fucker.

Whether we believe this story or not, we already know FIFA was, and probably still is corrupt to the core. There's absolutely no reason to believe that UEFA is any different and several good reasons, monsieur Platini I'm looking at you, for believing it is.

People suggesting that people would break ranks and spill the beans are underestimating human capacity for greed. If you think back to Dyke's £16,000 watch which was, of course, "a gift" but which had to be prised out of his hands, you'll see what I mean. And he's from one of the reputable and honest FAs.

Fraudsters (and for the avoidance of doubt I do not suggest for one moment that Dyke is one) simply don't think like the rest of us. They are psychopaths who can convince themselves that what they are doing is right even when, by normal standards, it is completely wrong.

History has shown that normal people who think they stand to benefit will adapt their morality to suit a given environment, even one designed by psychopaths.

Anyone who has investigated a corrupt organisation will tell you that everyone knew it was corrupt but no-one broke ranks until someone fell out with their co-conspiritors or the conspiracy was discovered and they felt it would save their own skins. Blatter's now in that cycle.

It's comical how many people are so readily willing to believe this, without question.
I suppose we have to ask the question why would he do this, now?

Possible answers:
To stitch up (or make life difficult for) someone he dislikes?
To occupy the authorities - smokescreen or just to p*ss them around?
To milk the PR of being the self-proclaimed saviour of football by exposing the bodies?
To reduce the impact of certain moves being made against him by exposing a whole bunch of miscreants to the authorities/Feds/etc.?

These last two could even work nicely side by side, and if I know anything about how some authorities operate (I don't), I'd hazard a guess that we have some dirty deals being done (Dirt cheap) in order to maximise result and minimise expense.

I think the propensity for human corruption and dishonesty is much more widespread than within people with psychopathic tendencies. For many, subjective morality is a hugely malleable creature when conditions suit.

A combination of scorched earth and mischief making in all likelihood.

It's not really a complete surprise, and we can all have a bit of banter over an 'agenda', but fuck me it's shocking if true. Like Phil said above, how many people would need to be complicit in something like this? Some serious money in brown envelopes would need to change hands.
what confirmed it for me was when (forget the year) Cluj got drawn out and they laughed ,put them in the rags group and no explaination was made as to why they couldnt go into our group

Quite possibly. A mind as warped as Blatter's is more than capable of inflicting gratuitous damage upon others just for the sheer hell of it.
I suppose Occam's razor suggests this is the more likely. Even the most normal of us have a tendency to get a bee in our bonnets if we feel a sense of unfairness. And currently, he may be feeling that the rest of his gang are being treated leniently in the press or in some instances are even being completely overlooked.

I just get the feeling he's way more calculating than that.
