Blue cards to be trialled for sin-bins | IFAB postpones introduction (pg13)

Imagine the inconsistency.

They can't even get things right with two cards in what you would say is generally a bigger distinction between a yellow and red

So lord knows how they're going to manage between a yellow and blue, it'll be a right shit show

The cynical side of me thinks its just another way to allow officials to influence the outcome of games...

They're already bent bastards in plain sight with VAR when anyone with a pair of eyes can see what's correct and not, so imagine how dodgy they are going to be with this blue card

Surely a cynical foul is already covered by yellow or red ?
I think (guess) they mean stopping a fast counter just before the ball is passed to the striker to have the chance. It’d have to be defined before it could be used.

Maybe it’ll be fouls with no attempt made for the ball too. We don’t know yet.

Footballers cheat as much as they can in the game to the boundaries of the laws. Maybe the threat of a sin bin changes that approach?

I wouldn’t introduce it, personally, but am just trying to think what they are trying to achieve by it. (Barring the obvious corruption nonsense)

Sounds like a terrible idea to me. Why do they keep messing with the game?

Fucking hell,

If they apply this correctly then that goofy fucker at the swamp will see about 5 minutes of action a game.

The only way i can see this working is for the refs to be fully miked up with recording capabilty and clear instructions of what words will not be tolerated. If a player is sin binned then the recording can be reviewed very quickly and approved by the VAR team.

The Refs should then clearly communicate to the crowd that "Player X has been sin binned for calling me a Cnut"

Here’s what will happen with sin bins and blue cards…

Liverpool have a good break on at Anfield but Salah is fouled and the Brentford player is sent to the sin bin.

Liverpool go 1-0 up during the period the player is away.

Late on Brentford have a tasty looking situation but Robertson cuts the player off before anything can come of it.

The referee uses his ‘discretion’ to say he doesn’t think it was overly cynical and Robertson remains on the pitch.

Brentford feel aggrieved and leave Anfield feeling the rules weren’t applied correctly. The referees shrug their shoulders and make up excuses as to why the Robertson foul might not have been cynical.

+ The ref then books the Brentford bench for having the audacity to complain.

Just another way to manipulate games, watch the usual suspects get away with it week in week out where we are officiated to the strictest level of the games laws.

Whatever they define it as it will be a subjective decision for the ref and just add to the shit show they are trying to turn football into.
