Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Had this on pretty much most of the day. Loads of really good stuff!

Was worried it might get a bit repetitive being mostly dominated by one instrument, but it does not.

Never in doubt surely!

The way it achieves different things both within and across genres means it's more versatile than sometimes people give it credit for. Once you add in the 5 & 6 string basses, it's even catching up the guitar (a bit) in terms of it's polyphonic value, though that should never displace its existential focus - the groove. The playlist is a bit light on bass synths for my liking but you can't have everything!

Shorter than recent playlists but never mind the width, feel the quality. I will be adding some stuff to this for a personalised version.

Favourites so far of the ones I didn't already know:

Greenleaf
Tool
The Twilight Sad - (NaeSpires would like this)
+Live+
High Fade

I'll take care of it for you unless someone else steps up. I'd hate for that to happen (your son cracking the code), and I already changed my user name to handle the week I posted. Hopefully there won't be songs I can't access, but it's only been CSNY and SOS band (and sad about both).

If for some reason you can't, then happy to do it again too. Agree kids knowing your online personas never a good thing!

I can’t keep up at all at the moment, so much going on and work just seems to be one meeting after another at the moment so my usual listening time has disappeared.
Totally understood and know that we're all thinking of you and your crew and hope things get better on both the work and house issues.

I threw the old Queen track on as well because I figured if you were way too busy, then this would be something you'd hopefully like as well. ;-)

I too have just started the playlist, and the first set of songs I was not familiar with from @Coatigan were quite strong and a very good leadoff.

Can't believe none (of a few) of us thought of putting Idles' Car Crash or Stockholm Syndrome on here..

I'll come back to you midweek if that's ok? I have one I think may be niche enough that it won't be massive anyway. Someone will have to bang it on Spotify for me or I'll have to get my lad to put on and then he might find out my user name. He's been trying to find it for years

Recon you are good for the Monday?

Edit, wrote a bunch about the reduced format, but then realised you hadn't been yet, so probably stick with it as is till we go back to a full round.

Well I really enjoyed this, and was happy to have the whole thing on.

Songs that were all new to me, that I really enjoyed.
Simple minds, Four Tops, Franki Valli, Public Image Ltd, Luscious Jackson, Archie Bronson Outfit.

There were a few I knew of the artist, but bot the song, whicb were also great. Sly and the family stone, sabbath, motorhead, the spinners. And amongst that, a few I probably don't rate highly enough but should. Both the Rush songs, the Queen song, and INXS.

Enjoyed hearing again. Tool (was going to put The Pot forward myself), I Wish (which I had on my list), Live, Wild Cherry, Beasties and Sisters of Mercy.

Might revisit this one from time to time as a whole.
