King’s Call - Phil Lynott.
This song was submitted back on p. 237. The playlist is updated through yesterday's songs, and I'll get today's added later tonight.King’s Call - Phil Lynott.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
As it's written about and dedicated to Syd Barrett then surely that counts? He's historic ;)
If not then I'll sneak in...
Wiener Blut - Rammstein
A nice little ditty about Josef Fritzl.
Lou Reed and John Cale did a tribute album for pop artist Andy Warhol
this is the first track ‘Smalltown’

Hopefully you have another for today, thanks!
Ideally, it is! ;-)Given the nature of the genre, if there were more folkies on this thread there'd be loads of properly historical nominations. Today I'm going for someone I'm supposedly* related to...
Kevin Barry - The Wolfe Tones (ideally a live version)
Great song, although I'm not sure it's about a historical figure.Civil War by Guns N' Roses
Great song, although I'm not sure it's about a historical figure.
Having said that, it does mention Kennedy, which I suppose is enough given some of the other selections.
That's more than fair. As I commented above, I think some of the submissions - including my own - qualify on only the title.I checked the context for the song before I posted it, and Duff McKagan stated:
"Basically it was a riff that we would do at sound-checks. Axl came up with a couple of lines at the beginning. And... I went in a peace march, when I was a little kid, with my mom. I was like four years old. For Martin Luther King. And that's when: "Did you wear the black arm band when they shot the man who said: 'Peace could last forever'?" It's just true-life experiences, really."
So I felt, along with the Kennedy reference there might be enough to it!
