Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 28 - Coatigan - Instrumentals (pg 444)

I will add the last couple of tracks but it might be this evening.

Edit: Added but not sure if that was the intended Lawrence of Arabia tune so can change that plus might adjust sequencing once more.

Thanks to everyone that contributed. I added three more tracks of my choice. Compiler's privilege and Saddo pick four picks in...

Nice idea for a playlist @OB1
Unfortunately I had it on mostly as background music whilst working, it definitely not my idea of driving music.
Some excellent pieces of music and very nostalgic, I tend to watch a film just once in the main, but this has made been want to rewatch a few.

Need to investigate The Boxer Rebellion’ good song.

Age

So we’re obviously all getting older and I can now be considered an FOC.BWBMT recommended a US Tv series ‘This Is Us’ a few weeks ago it’s about different generations of a fictional family and goes back and forth in time, possibly not everyone’s mug of tea as it gets a bit cheesy in parts but the wife loves it and we’ve binged it.
It got me thinking age and getting older would make a good thread particularly as I’m about to do my bi monthly night out with mates I’ve known for over fifty years and no we’re not going to the same venue as we’ve always done as they now have wheel chair access and yes most of us can still recall where we went last time! lol

As I’ve got older I’ve mellowed, I was a nightmare teenager and twenty something ,I probably didn’t grow up till my fifties.
I’m now well into my sixties and I’m very fortunate, I’ve got my health I can still play old man’s football 3/4 times a week, a loving wife 3rd time lucky and I’ve been reasonably successful so we can finally make the permanent move across the pond that I’ve dreamt about since my twentys .

the first 5 tracks in no particular order

100 years ,Five for Fighting
pretty self explanatory lyricsand it’s a pleasant listen.

What’s My Age Again ,Blink 182
Wife’s always saying act your age as I tend to be a bit childish at times, which I take as a compliment who wants to act like an old man!

Growing up and Getting Old ,Luke Coombs
Probably describes a few of us and had to get a bit of country in.

A Touch of Grey ,The Grateful Dead
Never been Dead Head but always liked this track,TWOD do a good cover of it.

Hello in There ,John Prine
What a great songwriter JP was , this has been covered by many, I was tempted to put Jason Isbell’s version but no covers for Rob and besides the original is the best.

I’ve left a few obvious ones out for you to add, enjoy.

Imagine waiting each week for the next episode or year over year for them to air? "Kids these days" with their post-airing binging! ;-) I'm glad you enjoyed it, and hope you still got the surprise of "Memorized" when it aired as it was a crucial part of the storyline.

Great concept for a playlist. I've already burned "Old Man" from Black Pumas and "Growing Old is Getting Old" from Silversun Pickups on Bimbo's "How Are You Feeling?", so I'll have to get creative here.

Very glad to see your area in FL was mostly spared the wrath of Milton, some pretty concerning and scary hurricanes this season has been pretty relentless over here.

Some good opening tracks, especially the JP classic, will give this one a thinking...

And so in honour of your mid-age mellowing and avoiding "that midlife crisis", I can't think of one better than this:

"Outta My System" - My Morning Jacket

Yes, I’ve don’t that with quite a few shows’ Slow Horses’ being the most recent, so it was fun to binge this although it meant we didn’t watch anything else.Yeah I got that episode from the get go, I did have to explain it to the Mrs. though :)The song was co written by Taylor Goldsmith who is Mandy Moore’s second husband, Ryan Adams being her first.

Yes we were very lucky, it seems the frequency and severity has increased over the last few years.Fortunately our house is not near the shore and pretty new so we suffered very little damage even after Ian.One things for sure our first major purchase will be a generator for next October!
How did you guys fare?

I've just checked and though I mentioned Sinatra's September of my Years during the Time playlist I didn't nominate a track so this seems like an open goal. As it's the entire theme of the album I'm half tempted to nominate all three from this album, the title track, The Man in the Looking Glass, Last Night When we were Young - all beautiful. But instead I'll go with a classic.

Sinatra - It was a Very Good Year
