Yeah Dylan and Lennon/McCartney great songwriters but nauseating to listen to.
The comment about Dylan I can accept but the Beatles? Can't believe your not saying that about the Beatles just for the sake of having something contentious to say.Yeah Dylan and Lennon/McCartney great songwriters but nauseating to listen to.
I get that everyone has it in for them and I can see how they'd be immensely irritating but I always thought they made pretty good fluff in spots. Just the piano riff on "Clocks" is a contribution.Meanwhile

Wonder when they are going to start?
It's a fair comment, I just wanted to be the first to shoot for the open goal. I actually didn't mind some of their early stuff but they became a bit samey and Fix You or whatever it is called I find execrableI get that everyone has it in for them and I can see how they'd be immensely irritating but I always thought they made pretty good fluff in spots. I listened to some of that Biffy Clyro or whatever when their name came up here as I'd not heard of them -- like a half dozen songs -- can you explain why they're popular over there? I mean it sounds okay but nothing special, no edge really, and the lead singer appears to be a git based on his video performances. Did they do early stuff that was good? It was just a random sample so I could have gotten unlucky. It's a fair comment, I just wanted to be the first to shoot for the open goal. He'd have pissed this poll were it US-only respondents. His untimely death only made him more of a legend. But like so many other artists, even though I love four or five dozen of his songs, I couldn't rank him top 15 because there was only one album of his that was truly consistently great song-for-song IMO ("Full Moon Fever"). So like Led Zep, he's a greatest hits artist to me. Also my all-time favo(u)rite song of his is probably his most un-Petty like -- "Don't Come Around Here No More."Petty, with or without the Heartbreakers, is a wonderful artist. TP&H are up there with Bruce & E St Band and The Rolling Stones as what I refer to as the greatest rock n roll bands ever. I left him out of my 20 when I introduced my own points system because I had 18 bands that I was struggling to turn into 15.
All his albums are worth having.
I’ve never heard Buddy Clyro but I know they are the only band the wife of one of my golf mates would travel to see. I’ve often thought I should listen to them, even more so after some of the comments on these threads but not got round to it yet.I listened to some of that Biffy Clyro or whatever when their name came up here as I'd not heard of them -- like a half dozen songs -- can you explain why they're popular over there?
