Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

S/T debut
Your'e Gonna Get It
Damn The Torpedos
Hard Promises
You Got Lucky
Southern Accents
Let Me Up

All essential for me. Of course they are all with The Heartbreakers. I never really got into his solo stuff. For me he lost a spark without the band behind him. Became a bit MOR. I blame all that Wilbury shite he got involved with.
Mojo was an apt name for one of his last records with The Heartbreakers, as he really did seem to find his again.
Damn the Torpedoes is a great album. Wouldn’t say Petty was high up on my list but remember him being one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen

Agree with most of the albums you've listed above, but less so about You Got Lucky and Southern Accents.
But all three of his solo albums were fantastic, with Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers being particularly good.

Currently accruing every Dylan vinyl album through a Diagostini publication. Discovering his earlier stuff has been a revelation. Enjoying the ride so far. 8 albums in and another 33 to go. Respect and like rather than love though...

enjoy the journey, its wonderful.

Blonde On Blonde is the best one for me.

Funny how more partisan people are getting now we are into the top 20.

After all this was a vote on your favourite bands not the best or most popular globally appealing bands(thankfully or we would by seeing garth brooks in here ffs), so that slightly unhinged personal level of fandom/devotion should see the debates hotting up :-)
Very true about it being favourite bands.
How would we possibly objectively gauge best bands though ? What criteria would we use ?
There is an objective measure of an individuals skill in playing music but can that effectively transition to a collective ?
All good stuff though !
