Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Definitely
Their 60's output is littered with great tunes.
The disco phase got them a bad rap in the UK but looking back are top tunes - the harmonies are just amazing.
Someone once argued they were the third best disco band ever after Chic and another band that I am reasonably confident is going to appear higher up . . . . . and I’m not thinking of the Pet Shop Boys, who might be fourth. And interesting we haven’t seen them either!

But as I said — having them force fed every fucking day on the radio growing up did not endear me to them.
When I first moved to the US 10 years ago the car I bought only had AM / FM and a cassette player......
It was awful. It took me about 6 months before someone told.me about College Radio and I was saved.....
There would be soft rock after classic rock station on the dial and it came to the point that when something like The Police or Blondie came on I was very excited....
But then it would be back to "Don't stop believing" or "More than a feeling" and I'd be turning the dial again.
And every Friday every station would play "Working for the weekend" and probably imagined no other station was playing it.

Whoever wrote the 3 above mentioned songs probably don't have to work again. If 10 stations in Boston are playing them daily x 5 times imagine the royalties across the whole USA...... and fair play to them.

Love Atmosphere. One of my favourite tracks

I would agree on the smiths I don't think any of their LPs are average or bad, each one is top, but then I could say that of elbow, who I am sure will not appear here.

On this poll up to now I can only think of the Pixies, Pulp and James that have consistently produced LPs that are both top drawer and improve each time in their peak years, from my time growing up in the 80s/90s.

As a child born in 76 tge 70s stuff is only from reflective listening and if I had to say put of the likes of the gratfull dead, steeley dan etc I prefered The Band if honest.

Again though having heard all their LPs Zeplin are the great pretenders and an average band that done good.
Depeche Mode made Black Celebration, Music for the Masses, Violator and SOFAD one after another during their peak years.

All very fair. No, I never had a problem with Steve Perry’s voice — I can manage Geddy Lee’s! — but I never thought their hooks were very good — they relied too much on his voice and harmonies for the hooks vs. power chords. I just never found them that catchy. I can’t think of a single song of theirs I really like. And I do really dislike “power ballads” — a lot. “Faithfully” is so so bad. And the lyrics are weak and banal. But as I said — having them force fed every fucking day on the radio growing up did not endear me to them.

I don't like many ballads of any kind but power ballads are a Frankenstein's monster.
