Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Don’t worry. I have had a PM from MES apologising humbly for some moderation issues. Hopefully the thread will be restored at some point, but until then, I’ll put any updates in here.

A band perhaps best known for their big hit “You really Got Me”, some may be surprised by The Kinks being so high. I thought they might do well as I detected a bit of support in some of the comments on this thread during the voting. If you’re a Kinks fan, your loyalty has been rewarded.

Ray Davies is one of the finest lyricists the UK has produced. I missed the vote deadline, otherwise there'd be even more surprise!

Finest band ever in my eyes, I don't need to see the poll afrer this ;-)

They adapted and reinvented themselve over and over and could mix musical styles from jaunty vaudeville, blues and jazz sounds to heavy rock and and have been credited with influencing acts from the beatles, the who, hendrix (they used to reherse next to eaxh other and often jammed) early american garage punk to 70s rock and early heavy metal, the mod revival movement and indie music and bands.
They complete the 4 British bands alongsode the beatles, stones and who who had long reaching effects on the next decades sound both inthe UK and beyond.
The original bad boy band in the early days with punch ups on stage by the brother and instruments chycked at each other long before townsend wash smashing guitars, also Mick Avory is a very underated drummer of that period
Ray Davies is the best lyricist this country has produced in my opion and could write about every subject with both sincerity and wit.

4 songs here that wouldn't be in my top favourites but you will rarely hear (I will be honest if media wasn't limited to 5 per post I could list more than a 100 kinks songs I cpuld listen to on repeat all day.

Also writers or one of the best anti war songs there has been

Love “Waterloo Sunset” and “All Day and All of the Night” but I actually prefer Green Day’s “Warning”, which clearly rips off “Picture Book”.

They didn't make my cut but if longer list to 25/30 they'd have been in there easily.

Good long distance driving music in the car.
