Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Massive global icon. Hugely influential. The 3 album run from Hunky Dory to Aladdinsane via Ziggy Stardust, arguably 3rd only to The Beatles (Rubber Soul, Revolver, Pepper) and The Stones (Beggar’s Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers). Pure subjective opinion of course!

4 run for me. I adore Man who Sold the World - one of the great heavy metal albums ;-)

You can add a run of Zep albums :)

Bowie was my favourite artist for a bit and remains one.

His "best of" stacks up against pretty much anyone.

I have quite a few Radiohead albums - all bought well after my teen years btw - but can't remember last time I was drawn back to playing one but it will happen one day. However, they are undoubtedly massivley overrated.

I agree, and I've seen them live a few times - awful every time, not helped standing in a cloud of weed each time.

but OK Computer is one of my favourite albums ever.

Never got them. Too depressing for me. I like my music to be more uplifting....

True original and sadly missed. Confused the hell out of me as a kid, weird looks, weird outfits, different colour eyes, odd films, strange videos. All those things kind of distracted me from his songs but I was a little kid in the 70s. When I got to the teenage years it was wow how good is Bowie.
Every time I hear him or see an interview or documentary it brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. I also really like his voice as it’s so recognisable. Like a combination of Christopher walker and Harold Steptoe:-)

A true icon.

EARLY Aerosmith. EARLY. Toys in the Attic, stuff like that. I got a kick out of their hook up with Run DMC; after that, not as fond of what they did. Definitely had two careers and two sounds.

They were in my top five favourite bands back then. Absolutely loved the raw and dirty funk they had then. (never more so than on the wonderful Live Bootleg album) Get Your Wings, Toys In The Attic, Rocks, Night In The Ruts, Draw The Line .... superb. I even like the Rock In A Hard Place album without Perry and Whitford.

Post clean up, not very much at all. Too polished, too clean, too bland, too MTV..... 'Smiffs Lite.
As you say, like two different careers. The drugs (and drink) really did work for them :-)

Can I just add that I literally spat my beer, when seeing REM at Manchester Ritz, they encored with Toys In The Attic

Edit: Bowie. No denying his genius and being a genuine icon. And I know I should love him, but truth is, beyond a good few songs I just cannot fully get into him as others do. Not for lack of trying. Bought several albums, but find it hard to get through a full one before simply 'had enough' of it. Deserves Top Ten though for sure.
