Aretha is the one I forgot about.I must confess I somehow overlooked Dusty when picking my own list. On reflection I would probably have had her in there. Absolute class

Totally agree about the lyrics. HMHB are a national treasure in my opinion and were in my top 10. They improved musically as the years passed by and made loads of great albums. Quite jealous that you know them ! Only saw them live once, at Manchester Academy in the early 90s and it was a great night.Used to play footie with the HMHB boys in Birkenhead Park every Friday afternoon back in the late 80’s. Nice lads and so unassuming that unforgivably I don’t think I ever once spoke to them about their songs. I say ‘unforgivably’ cos Nigel Blackwell is one of the greatest lyricists in the history of modern, popular music.
Panic on the streets of Timperly...........I'm guessing Frank Sidebottom is in the top 10.
The brother of the lad I shared a flat with back then was their manager. My ‘knowing’ them sadly extended to no more than a game of footie each week and the occasional pint afterwards. Apart from a couple of gigs, I haven’t clapped eyes on them for 30 years.Totally agree about the lyrics. HMHB are a national treasure in my opinion and were in my top 10. Fair enough. Great band and genius lyrics nonetheless. The brother of the lad I shared a flat with back then was their manager.
