Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Positions #66 – #77

Just a reminder that the top 100 so far is updated daily on page #1.

Today, everybody with 7 points is added in.

You know how it is, you wait a long time for a Welsh band to appear and then you get two at once! Stereophonics and Manic Street Preachers both make the top 70. The prog fans will be breaking out the bunting with the appearance of King Crimson. Scratch that, they’ll probably be retreating to their man cave and composing a celebratory symphony on their vintage analogue keyboard. Their wife will call them in for tea and they’ll respond that they won’t be long as they are just finishing their moog solo. Of course, by the time they return to the house, the lights are out and their tea’s in the dog.

Anyway, back on Sanity FM, Soundgarden make it two for the grungies, Glady Knight should keep the soul fans happy and it’s nice to see John Mellencamp, my 2nd favourite artist, in the mix. Well, obviously he’s miles off the lead, but he probably won’t lose too much sleep over that.

Midwestern punk pioneers, Husker Du are in 73rd place, but I’ll leave if for our North American correspondent @FogBlueInSanFran to explain which of the Wikipedia labels I should trust (post-hardcore, noise pop, post-punk or just plain old noisy bastards – OK, I made that last one up).

The Chameleons are the ubiquitous Manc band in this section, and they’re from my hometown of Middleton, so that’s nice.

Stereophonics - when did Wayne Rooney submit his picks?

I don't get that one. Is he a known Stereophonics advocate?

To be honest, I quite like some Stereophonics songs - it's a lot better than most of the guff we've had in this country for the last 40 years.
To the point where they either played at his wedding or 30th birthday (I forget which)............

Six acts there that I have seen live and six that I have albums by; although that is seven acts in total.

Skynyrd and Blue Oyster Cult are in my top 15. Mellencamp was left on the cutting room floor at the last minute but is top 20. Three quite different acts but all masters of what they do.
