Blue Moon Top 100 Bands Artists - Full List of Artists (pg 287)

Steely Dan, a good 'best of' band. Funny how prog gets called self indulgent yet SD are 'cool'....
It's funny but that us what I say about pretty much everyone else except the Dan ! Supreme run of lps from 72-80 pretty much every track on every album was fantastic which made them one of the all time greats.

@Mancitydoogle - You can't just say that and not tell us any more! What the hell was John Fogerty doing at a 40th birthday part you were at and what was he like?

I read his autobiography a few years - he comes across as a decent bloke who's had a very interesting life.
Ok ,long story short,my mates brother emigrated to the states many years ago
and became quite successful so bought a house in Beverley Hills on a gated community. His next door neighbour was John Fogerty. My brothers mate has no interest in music but being neighbours he was invited to one of JFs parties, among the guests was non other than Bruce Springsteen who did a set with JF.
So when mmb had his party he invited JF and his wife,I chatted to him a bit but found him very quiet and quite unassuming .I don’t think the party was his scene as he didn’t stay that long and I think he was a little pissed off no body but me knew who he was.He sent me a signed a copy of ‘Blue Moon Swamp’ a few years after.

RIP , Joe Stummer. Died 19 years ago today. #joestrummerday.

Been reading about him recently, not particularly positively either. A public school hypocrite, sorry, I mean revolutionary, with a pretty limited repertoire of top drawer songs to his name. Just had a glance at the track list of The Clash’s best of … London Calling and Rock The Casbah are sheer brilliance, but the drop off after that is pretty steep imho.
He certainly had the cognoscenti in his pocket though, and was a name to drop if you were trying to impress folk with how cool you were, yet were never that popular. Still a 6Music playlist staple nowadays no doubt.

Steely Dan -

Aja was voted 54th in the Album Poll on here, they always seemed a bit soft and jazzy for me but they are also a easy listen which is nice sometimes. Liked Reelin in the years and a few other pop songs they did - they're ok but wouldn't make my top 20

Pretty much my take on them. One of those that I feel I should like, but just cannot get into really. Up there with Supertramp in being clever for the sake of it. But many seem to love them, so ....

Each to their own . I always turn those 2 tracks off nowadays sick of hearing them . Have a listen to White man in Hammersmith Palais Or Train in Vain .
