Well done! an extremely quick learner. I am still struggling after 20 odd years...Cheers, did a two day course at Chatsworth last year so I have mastered it already ;-)

Never fished matches as I don't have a competitive edge when it comes to fishing and haven't honed my craft accordingly.
Pound for pound it's arguable, you have a valid point. I'll let you know if I catch a 147lb barbel, having caught a catfish that size.legend has it that there is a very small population in the Clyde. Think one or two found through electro fishing. I still dont think that there is a harder fighting fish than a Barbel.
Ha, yes please let me know. The 10 pounder I caught on the Wye certainly pulled harder than any trout I have caught. That catfish must have been something though!Pound for pound it's arguable, you have a valid point. I'll let you know if I catch a 147lb barbel, having caught a catfish that size.
TBH mate, my biggest cat was not the hardest fighting I've had. It came in fairly easy for it's size. That said a 100lb plus fish can arc a 9lb TC rod to doubled over for over 20 minutes of direct upward pressure when playing them in a boat. They really are fighting machines and the closing thing to big game sea fishing. Much cheaper holiday too.Ha, yes please let me know. I love a good battle, not had many if any catfish maybe a very small one,but barbel and carp love that battle ,snags weed and sheer strength of the fish, cant beat that first run, when you pick your rod up and you think omg and your arse goes hahaaCatfish and carp fight harder than barbel. All three fight differently but in terms of strength, pound for pound, that's what I think.
Imagine playing a 20lb crucian carp.Catfish and carp fight harder than barbel. All three fight differently but in terms of strength, pound for pound, that's what I think.

had a jack do that a few years ago absolutely shit it and that was a 3.5lb fish hahaI'll tell you when your arse goes even more: When a big pike snatches your fish just under your feet. That's the ultimate shock in coarse fishing.
