Which are your nearest ones mate? There are a few up here that you would like
I am 45 minutes from the Tweed, the Ettrick a little further. Also minor rivers like the Whittader. My fishing mates normally fish the Tay and occasionally catch a salmon. Sadly the fishing is not what it was because of salmon mortality at sea caused by all the things you are familiar with in England (Salmon farms, netting, industrial fishing, climate change etc etc.).Which are your nearest ones mate?
Mrs has booked us a spot on a motorhome site in Northwich which has a plot slap bang on the River Weaver(?).
I've not fished for years, especially on a river but going give this a bash with some very basic old tackle that's been stuffed in the garage.
Hoping to get 'hooked' again.
Best bait tips mate?Had some decent bream out of there last year. Well worth fishing.

Not fished the Weaver for donkeys years, about 95 iirc on Red Lion stretch. I caught a couple of pound of bits and i think around 9lb of prime Roach topped the scales to win the club match. I asked the guy what method he used to catch them and he said Pole to 10 ft deep feeding hemp with a large grain on the hook.Had some decent bream out of there last year. Well worth fishing.
You just reminded me to order some artificial hemp for the same reason. Keep meaning to try it.Not fished the Weaver for donkeys years, about 95 iirc on Red Lion stretch. At this point he had a big grin on his face and i asked why. He said the hooked hemp wasn't really hemp saying he had a BB weight on his hook with a 1mm line of white paint where the split was. Said to keep it quiet as he'd previously done well on it
Fuckin' genius method to win a match i think and a method i meant to try out but never
Great to know it's going to stay on /be easy to hook I suppose. You just reminded me to order some artificial hemp for the same reason. Keep meaning to try it.
