Not too bad for this time of year, fish starting to move . Had a decent mirror , couple of F1s and three or four bream. Lovely afternoon.

What's an F1?

It’s a hybrid. Common carp /crucian carp. Not a natural one, made by fish farms . Stocked mainly because they will feed all year round. Lots in commercial fisheries. Our club stocked them for the same reason.

2nd Club outing yesterday on the beautiful Lake of Menteith. There was a cold easterly but other than that a glorious day. Fishing was not easy and many struggled. Fortunately I was in the boat with a Scottish International and was able to glean what worked and what didn't. We managed to winkle some nice trout out wherever we went on the Lake (mainly the Eastern basin). I had another double hook up but this time only managed to land one of them. Caught a couple of slabs, both of them fought so hard I think I will need to take up weight lifting as they left my right arm aching. This was the prettiest of them. You can just see the olive buzzer it fell for in its scissors. I ended up with 7, my partner 10 so I was quite pleased with that.

Yeh in the soft plastic ones - they seem to be going for the very bright ones at the moment.

It could be completely overcast and raining, an old white welsh wannabe like you needs a sombrero and sunscreen factor 100, just to stay translucent
